About this project
In the midst of dealing with the repercussions of a recent accident, newly introverted William comes in contact with the very spark that may just allow him to overcome – a vivacious young gent named Thomas.
WHO WE ARE
Alex Bohs – Writer/Director/Editor
Jason Knade – Producer
Ben McBurnett – Cinematographer
Amanda Brinton – Production Designer
We are a melting pot of both recently graduated and current students of Columbia College Chicago. With that said, MUM is being independently funded and produced without help from film school. In other words, we need your support (and donations) in order to bring this story to life.
Many of the crew members are coming off the successfully funded film, Finding Franklin, (which you can see in it's final form below) so we couldn't be any more ready to embark on a new filmmaking adventure.
WHERE IS ALL THIS MONEY GOING YOU ASK?!
- Camera rentals/underwater housing
- Lighting equipment
- Permits and Insurance
- Festival submissions
- And much more!
It should be noted that our budget is the bare minimum we need to move forward into production. It'll cover just the essentials. It will not cover anyone's salary, so know that every dollar donated will be to bringing this film from page to screen. Lastly, we'd truly love nothing more than to have the privilege of updating you personally on any/all production updates as they happen!
Risks and challenges
Adding any sort of element to a shoot (like water) shockingly complicates things immensely SO what we've already done to help ease the amount of issues that could arise is to bring on a certified scuba diver who has had loads of experience filming underwater. He will be working closely with our DP and director to make sure things not only go smoothly but that the story translates from page to screen.
A lot of this film takes place at night which means that lighting will be a tad trickier than usual. Thankfully we've spent a good amount of time secretly filming in bars (that we thought matched the film aesthetically) practicing shooting characters in low (often strobing) lights. Also, since there are a couple scenes that take place outside, at night, in the middle of Chicago's winter season, we have chosen locations that are close to homes of the crew so that we can take refuge quickly if need be. Sounds overly cautious but trust us Chicagoans: never underestimate the power of "The Hawk" in February.
...and much more technical trickery but those are our top 2 least "spoilerific" concerns up front!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
