A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.

2018 is the 70th year anniversary of the Porsche 356. Owning a Porsche is a dream. They say 'It all starts with a dream' I hope you'll like what you see. Let's make this happen. We are celebrating the anniversary and you get the reward. Thank you.
It is all about the watch, the quality, the detail. Nothing has been overlooked so I will start with short videos and please read on.
Looking at the Case..

A Short Tour
Quick Release, Really Quick.
One more and why not.
Race Car enthusiast and renowned designer Alessandro Salvatore from Melbourne, Australia decided to pay homage to the Porsche 356 and the genius behind it, Ferdinand Porsche by creating two watches that share the same dynamism, agility, craftsmanship and creative restlessness. Each watch is available in 4 different case and accent colours.
Class, Exclusivity and Affordability.
Could one balance these things perfectly when creating a watch? Please read on...Oh, one thing first, which is good and bad: the pictures in this campaign do not do these watches justice! They Look so much better in the flesh...
The case on Ferdi and 3Five6 is a masterpiece. Top and bottom parts of the case are nicely polished and the middle part is horizontally brushed and going all the way around, about 1mm thick. It's hard to photograph but is another thing that makes this great watch stand out when wearing it.
4 nicely aligned screws secure the case back, and the inscription, logo and serial number are deeply engraved.
The chronograph pushers and crown are very nicely machined. The pushers give a real nice 'clunk' when you push them in.
The crown is also a fine piece of machining, with a textured grip and each watch logo on the end.
The movement is a Ronda 5021.D for Ferdi and 5030.D (10/13 Jewel Swiss quartz movement) respectively. These movements are used in watch brands such as Luminox, Shinola, Christopher Ward, Swiss Army, a.b.art, and a host of other brands that retail from $600-$2000.
Ferdi & 3Five6 are hand-assembled and feature a museum grade sapphire crystal with glare reduction. The watches are available in Silver and Black. The case is 43mm in diameter and water-resistant to 100 meters. It also has a soft iron inner case that protects the movement against magnetic fields.
Full dimensions, colours and other specifications and features can be seen below in the campaign.
Enjoy the beauty of the details of this watch. Top and bottom parts are polished and the middle part is horizontally brushed. The dials on both models are multi-layered in applied elements and the dial on Ferdi is a basket weave Carbon Fibre in matt black. The main hands are also matt with a cleaver black on the base, giving them the appearance that the tips are floating.
The museum grade sapphire is truly stunning and this crystal simply knocks all of the others out of the water. It is so clear it's unbelievable! The anti reflection coating works perfectly and makes this watch seem more expensive than it actually is.
The dials on both models are multi-layered in applied elements and the dial on Ferdi is a basket weave Carbon Fiber in matt black. The main hands are also matt with a cleaver black on the base, giving them the appearance that the tips are floating.
The hands are different sizes to accommodate the design and they are colour coded and well coordinated with the accent colour of each reference. Chronograph seconds are on the big second hand, running seconds on the right sub dial, chronograph minutes on the left, and chronograph hours on the bottom for 3Five6 as Ferdi comes with two sub dials.
The unique thing is this: rather than the hands incrementally and slowly going around the dial, they take steps. So, when the seconds reach 60 seconds on the big hand, the minute hand on the left sub dial will 'step' to the next minute. Also, when the minute counter reaches 30 minutes, the hand on the hour sub dial will flick to the next half an hour mark. This makes it easier to read.
With the Swiss Ronda movement inside, you’ve got plenty of timing options between the chronograph and tachymeter bezel. Toss in the 100m water resistance rating, and you’ve got a watch that should stand up to most abuse and it is simply stunning to look at.

The straps are lovely with so many options to choose from. Black or mocha Italian vegetable tanned leather and durable silicone to match accent colours. All straps are incredibly soft and very nice to wear. Straps taper from 22mm at the lugs to 20mm at the buckle. This is done by a very subtle step-in about an inch into the strap. It has the quick release tags, so no accidental scratching of the lugs trying to remove the strap! Silicone rubber straps are also an option. You can see the strap options below.
The buckle, like the case, also has a polished top corner edge and the engraving is very deep too! All of these small things make this watch extra special.
The Swiss have that image of producing quality at the highest level, as Germans have the image of producing the best cars in the world, and you cannot just copy either.
Watches made in Switzerland are the best in the world. They have a long tradition of being incredibly precise, resistant and compact. Up until now, their quality is unequalled.
Strict Swiss regulations: Movement manufactured in Switzerland, assembled and inspected in Switzerland, 60% or more components must be sourced from Switzerland.
The Porsche 356 is a luxury sports car first produced by Austrian company Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH (1948–1949), and then by German company Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH (1950–1965). It was Porsche's first production automobile.
In 1950 the factory relocated to Zuffenhausen, Germany, and general production of the 356 continued until April 1965, well after the replacement model 911 made its autumn 1963 debut. Of the 76,000 originally produced, approximately half still exist.
Although the first 356-type Porsche was manufactured in 1948, the line didn't really come into its own until the late 1950s. Called the 356A, these cars came in coupe, convertible and speedster body types. All were available with the 1300cc or 1600cc engines, each size available in two states of tune. All engines were flat four cylinders, air-cooled. The suffix "S" denotes a specially tuned engine. The Carrera-type coupe was fitted with a GS competition engine with 4 overhead camshafts. It produced 100hp at 6200 rpm and gave a top speed of around 125 mph.
The standard 356 cars were equipped with pushrod-operated overhead valves and produced 75 hp at 5000 rpm. This doesn't sound like much today, but bear in mind that the cars themselves only weighed 2000 pounds. They were small, with a wheelbase of 85 inches and overall length of around 11 feet.
With Ferdi and 3Five6 watches, you can perform multiple chronograph functions from basic time chronograph calculations to accumulated time, intermediate and interval time functions. Instructions can be seen and downloaded here. The watches also feature a precise tachymeter.
A tachymeter measures the speed at which the wearer has travelled over a measured distance, i.e., a measured mile on the highway. For example, start the chronograph when you pass the starting point and stop it when you pass the finish point. You can then read your speed in units per hour off the tachymeter scale.

There are few times when you open a watch box and simply go wow and immediately fall in love with the watch. I love it when it happens, but has only happened to me a couple of times. With Ferdi and 3Five6, we guarantee it and we guarantee that we will also ship on time. Period.
While the watches will be manufactured in the strict tradition of Swiss watchmaking, we realise that it might not be the perfect fit for everyone. If you feel that the watch did not meet your expectations and you have not worn or used it, simply contact us within 30 days for a full refund.
We have worked very hard over the past year to reach this stage. We will continue to do our best until you have received your selected Watch and are fully satisfied!
And to do that, we sincerely need your support!

Risks and challenges
This is my second Kickstarter. My first was for a complicated world timer watch that we’d do soon as I work out how to make it even more affordable. I have learnt a lot from the first campaign so here I am trying again with different designs and price point strategy but remain focused on what makes a great high quality Swiss watch and hope to gain your support. And like Ferdinand Porsche said “If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.”
I am a seasoned award-winning designer and the manufacturing Swiss partners have years of experience in the industry! We are aware our project is complex and that there are always unforeseen issues, but we have anticipated and planned for potential risks and have built a rock-solid production and delivery plan. We see the risk small and what remains is the challenge and we are quite ready.
Firstly, our production is quite advanced and our manufacturer produces high-end famous Swiss watch brands so you can be very confident about our capacity to provide high-quality products on time. We spent nearly 1-year designing, developing, and receiving finalized production samples. Secondly, we have very skilful and professional suppliers and do not anticipate delays to our timeline. However, if by chance anything unexpected happens, we promise to remain open, transparent and keep you updated throughout the journey.
Thanks for the support! We are excited to take this next step with you, the Kickstarter community!
