Unreal images of real beauty
I am fascinated by the power of liquid to bend light and take a nude portrait into a fictional world.
I am creating a photobook with 100+ images on the theme of liquid nudes. I am also creating limited edition archival photographs (wall art) for backers.
Water, martinis, rain, coffee, tea, milk, cream, each has a distinct role to play in creating textures, mood, colors, and unpredictable shapes as liquid cascades, splashes, and ripples through the images. The dreamlike nature of liquid can add a touch of the surreal to the photographs.
Those familiar with my work may think of my swimmer photos when they hear the phrase "liquid nudes." In addition to a large number of new swimming photos, I've expanded my take on this theme.
Funds raised will be used to arrange shoots and locations, compensate models, replenish supplies, maintain equipment, and of course, create your rewards!

Aesthetics of Liquid
I love working with water and other liquids. The ungovernable nature of liquid provides a balance between order and chaos; I can predict the general nature of the image, but the exact details are left to chance. A constantly moving mirror and lens, the liquid provides intricate visual surprises. Ripples, reflections, splashes and drops all participate in a mix of light and shadow to create intricate textures. The patterns of liquid can seem independent of scale and are fascinating no matter how close or far.
My work is an unapologetic celebration of the female form, inviting you to explore a dreamlike world. This chosen perspective of beauty is neither overwrought with eroticism nor obligated to modesty. The photographs are not intended as a technical tour-de-force. When producing art there is no requirement to follow rules, be predictable, or appeal to a mass audience. Art should inspire our thoughts, rather than tell us what to think.
If you've backed a lot of my projects, you are accustomed to a certain specifications in the rewards. I've made some improvements; here they are:
- New photobook vendor. To ensure more consistent quality, I have replaced my longtime photobook vendor. The improvement in quality includes better ink and genuine photo paper for print versions. Additionally, environmental impact is reduced by eliminating shipping damage caused by the previous vendor.
- Two photobook options: softcover and premium hardcover. To provide affordable quality, I'm offering photo quality pages in softcover and premium pages in hardcover.
- Quality bonus images. Rather than expend time on preparing large numbers of bonus images, I am offering up to 75 on this project. A longer explanation is at the bottom of this page.
South Carolina Residents
South Carolina Residents, please add 6% sales tax. City of Charleston add 9% sales tax (Daniel Island 8%). Outside South Carolina, no sales tax (international orders may be subject to import duties, collected by your local government after import.)
I am starting my fifth year in business as a full-time artist. Kickstarter backers have been a key pillar in sustaining my art.
I am traditionally trained in painting, drawing, and photography, with a B.A. in art. I think art should start you thinking, but not tell you what to think. Images can be simple or deep and still be art if they make you feel something that doesn't go away when you stop looking.
Risks and challenges
The risks are low. I have a long history of delivering Kickstarter rewards on time. If there is any delay, it will be to ensure quality, and you will be informed as soon as I know of any changes.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
