Dr. Smash and her team of archaeologists have discovered a mysterious unknown ship believed to be the creation of an ancient civilization. While investigating, Dr. Smash accidentally triggers an automated ship protocol.
As the ship locks down and robotic attack drones begin to appear, Dr. Smash hurries to learn the purpose of the ship and its origins. Her team, comprised of highly diverse skills, have become an essential element to their survival.
After locating what appeared to be a deactivated A.I system, Dr. Smash and her team learn about the demise of the ancient ships crew and the job of the automated attack drones. She realizes the impossible task before them when she learns about “The Cleansing” software controlling the automated systems.
Through exploration, battle, and investigation, you must get Dr. Smash and her team out alive and stop the ship from releasing its plague.
The original game concept was created and designed by our teammate Jonny. His demo video sold us so well on the idea, we got started immediately, and here we are now. We thought we'd share it with you.
Dr. Smash provides a unique game play experience. While playing, you will encounter multiple game play style changes designed to keep you on your toes and your mind intrigued. Solve puzzles, interact with NPC’s, and explore a detailed environment. Throughout your adventure you will encounter several enemy types, each with unique characteristics and abilities. Gain skill points and collect scraps to build up your teams armory and abilities. You’ll need every advantage you can get when facing hoards of attack drones.
Play as Dr. Smash while utilizing your team members for specific game objectives (Unlock more crew through community goals!) Enjoy seamless game play style changes; Twin Stick, Platformer, Runner, First Person, Falling/Jetpacking (Reaching high stretch goals assures more types will make the final release.) Complete puzzles, Hack computer systems, and repair circuitry to open doors, activate consoles, and control other aspects of your environment. Collect experience points and enemy drops to gain advantages. Increase your team's skills and upgrade/craft better weapons, steal alien technology to upgrade your modern weapons. Search for hidden items, secret passages, and traps! Enjoy cutscenes and cinematics (Reaching stretch goals unlocks more!)
The core design of Dr. Smash includes 3 storyline chapters, each chapter containing multiple acts. Hitting stretch goals will increase the number of acts, and could lead to 4 storyline chapters if funded enough.

Dr. Smash is slated to have multiple game play types. As you play, game styles will switch seamlessly to ensure the action doesn’t stop! If you’re a fan of unique features, this is going to be one you will appreciate. For us to get all the game play types within the game though, we will need to make sure we reach our stretch goals!
Twin Stick: Through a large amount of the game you will play Dr. Smash and team members through an over the shoulder/over top Twin Stick style game play. Many puzzles and other mini games will be performed from this view as an addition.
Platformer: Bringing back a retro feel. Dr. Smash’s storyline and in game levels will be designed to incorporate a platformer style game play through different sections of the game. Run, Jump, Fall, and Fly with a jetpack through this enthralling game play scene.
Runner: In some phases of the game you will be put into a runner play style. If you have ever played Temple Run you will be familiar with the general concept. While our gameplay will be similar, it will have a twist to make it unique and different.
First Person: Some of our favorite puzzle games were made from the first person view. Games like Myst and L.A. Noire made our team want to include a first person game play style. When in first person, you will get a unique perspective of your environment. Using this advantage you will inspect your surroundings, find clues, and solve puzzles.
Falling/Jetpack: The concept in this type is having the view top down, or bottom up. The camera will be above Dr. Smash while she is falling (and navigating dangers), and below her while she is jetpacking up to another part of a level. Since her jetpack requires lots of energy to function, you will need to be near wireless charging stations to use the jetpack to fly high!
We are really looking forward to overshooting our goal, and want to provide the best rewards for those who push us past each stretch goal. The chart below shows each Stretch Goal, and the upgrades each level brings to the game. Notice, the higher funding goes some rewards multiply in quantity.

Getting your addons is easy to do, simply manage your current pledge, or click the “Back” button on our page to create a new backing.
Choose the backing tier you wish to have, and add the amount as an addition to your tier cost.
If you are updating your pledge to include a second game copy, you don’t need to change your tier (unless you are wanting to upgrade), simply add the additional amount for the addon you would like.

We decided to create a Kickstarter for Dr. Smash to help with some of the key bottlenecks in production that we had problems with in the past. To produce a high quality game requires a lot of time and resources for a small team, and we need to spread some of that workload.
With your help, we will raise the funds we need to take some of the workload off Jonny, and get more professional quality items that we need to make Dr. Smash stand out. This in turn helps Randy get the in game objects he needs, which makes testing and development faster and lowers testing output times. Funds will also help us get custom sound effects, add more items, and extend the length of the game.
We are so confident in Dr. Smash, that our team has already thrown in a large chunk of our own money to get this far. We believe in the power of community funding, and think there are gamers out there with a similar passion to ours. With your backing, we can create a high quality game to remember!
The money raised from our kickstarter has a very distinct purpose. To yield the best game, each section has been optimized for the best performance. We really want to focus on quality code, models and storyline, as the budgeting reflects. Keep in mind, this model is built with just our goal in mind. Hitting higher stretch goals gives us more room to adjust individual categories. Here is a general breakdown of each major project category your contributions support.
Fees: First off are the mandatory fees. The staff over at Kickstarter need to feed their families, can’t blame them right? Experience: We find interaction experience to be important. We want to assure the creation of a smooth user interface, easy beta update access, and the easy submission of play/bug reports. As developers, we want to design a game that we want to play, but we want your feedback to make it more like what you want! With your feedback, Dr. Smash will be a game for everyone!
Music/SoundFX: Sound effects have been purchased in bulk sound packs to keep the initial cost down, but have all come out of our pocket. Once funded, the complete custom audio sound effects packs will be ordered to closer match Dr. Smash and her game theme. Ryan Little has been commissioned to create the complete original game soundtrack. He has created soundtracks for us before, and we wouldn’t ask to work with anyone else on this project. His soundtracks are sure to add the final element of game play to make Dr. Smash perfect. This is why we have a dedicated Ryan Little donation tier!
Usages: Creating a great game requires great software, resources, and hardware. These are expenses that continue to grow the further we develop. A good example, is project backups and storage space requirements. Putting away contributions will allows us to continue growing as project needs grow. This allows unforeseen bottlenecks to be resolved quickly, and increase project quality.
Storyline: A good storyline requires a lot of work before development can really go full speed. Characters, Stories, Bosses, Levels, Equipment, Events, and Interactions, all interconnect and are woven to create a breathtaking game. We plan to focus a good amount to the full development of Dr. Smash’s story. With multiple game play styles in mind, we really want to blend a good mix of thrill, adventure, and satisfaction in our game.
Visuals: Quality models and textures make a big difference to a game, and we find them to be really important. Good rigging and Animations also help make the game feel more natural. Our team is derived from both in-house and outsourced personnel. While our team will be focused on character design, storyline, boss and enemy design; we have outsourced other important elements. Contributions will help finance our 3rd party studio contracts, which up to this point have been self funded. Reaching higher stretch goals provides more budget for visuals, which means even better quality could be afforded.
Programming: The development of Dr. Smash requires large amounts of programming, it’s certainly not going to be an easy task. Thankfully, we have a good team of developers on board. While our team will handle the development of Dr. Smash, we also have access to a large network of developers should we do well in stretch goals. We even have access to a highly skilled development consultant! Our budget is set to release Dr. Smash on PC, Mac and Linux. Should we reach the necessary stretch goals, development will continue to reach mobile devices (Android, IOS) and possibly console devices (Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo).
Rewards: A fair portion of the contributions will go to providing the reward items. Some reward items will be created in-house, which brings costs down and leaves more funds for development. Everyone loves being rewarded, and we want to make sure our rewards are top notch. The more contributors we get in higher reward levels, the more we will have to leverage for a better product quality, so be sure to share our kickstarter for better rewards!
Randy Thedford: Randy could be considered the leader of our team. He has the ability to bring people together to accomplish goals, and always pushes people to do their best work. He is our lead programmer and is in charge of all project coding needs. His skills also include concept development, networking with others, graphic design and mobile development.
Jesse Jones: Jesse is the creator of online content and manages the general organizational role. He specializes in web development, but also contributes to android projects. His skills include backend development, server and database management, and occasional stick figure concept drawings. He will also be a contributor to this projects code.
Jonny Johnson: Jonny became the third member of our team a few years ago when he impressed us with his dedication and graphics design skills. His diversity brought key elements to our team and has made many things possible. His skills range from 2d/3d graphic design, Character and Item design, scene directing, and post production video editing. He also coded the original game design sample featured in our Teaser Trailer video and will be a contributor to the final game code.
Cassandra: Cassandra aka Friskk, is an online personality with an outstanding voice. You may recognize her from her twitch stream, shes got mad ukulele skills! Her wide range of voice acting and character trait input has been extremely helpful. You will hear Cassandra throughout Dr.Smash, including the lead role, Dr.Smash herself!
Ryan Little: Ryan was chosen to create the Dr.Smash original soundtrack because his work is absolutely amazing. We have worked with him before, and are glad we have him on this project. He has already created 4 soundtrack songs for us to demo with the kickstarter, and is on standby to finish out the rest of the tracks. Thanks for being as excited as we are Ryan!
Mike Ziray: Mike is one of the more skilled programmers we have met, and brings a unique and important set of skills to the team. His eye for problem solving and expert feedback has really changed our core procedures during development. With mike, we also gained an encyclopedia of information and experience for the Unreal Engine. He brings support to bug testing, flow design, and many other important things you will appreciate, but never see.
InigmasStudios: Graham and Leo have been a blessing since we learned about their company, and awesome talents. We decided to work with this them because of their dedication to quality. Their team has already turned over outstanding models, and we are proud to be working with them. Your contributions will help us continue to fund the development of high quality in game graphics, through to game release.
David Mckee: David is highly skilled in making all sorts of cool and crazy noises. He’s the sound effect creator that we chose to work with because we believe he can really make the sounds needed to fit Dr.Smashes environment.
Silvyen: Silvyen is creating art pieces for Dr. Smash. When we saw her artwork we knew we had to try and get her on board. Lucky for us, she was excited to do it. She created some of the art used to promote the Dr.Smash kickstarter, and is on standby to create more works for final release. If you are reading this, you know that anyone who contributes $40+ to get the poster, will get an additional surprise print from Silvyen.
Brian Wolf: Brian has been tasked with the creation of the Dr. Smash comic book series. We were really impressed by his Kickstarter Tiny Swords SMAAASH! In which he made some outstanding art pieces! He created the one page comic for promotion of the kickstarter, and will finish the first comic book after we are funded.
Brian Holder: Brian approached us asking if we needed more voice actors. He sent over some demos and luck have it, he was a perfect match! He is really good an manipulating his voice and really changing the emotional feeling behind it. You will hear Brian throughout Dr.Smash as he will surely voice multiple characters. Glad to have you Brian!

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk we pose is a delay in expected release time. Graphics could be delayed, cut scenes could go unrendered, or even a shortened storyline. However, we have designed our funding to target non-essential items for development to prevent this. The key elements of the game will be created, and the game released eventually, but funding will bring Dr. Smash to life much faster, and increase the quality of final production.
Some of the major challenges for Dr. Smash is making sure our team stays organized enough to get everything done in a timely manner. We must make sure resources for each team member are available when they need them to prevent delays, while sticking to a high quality standard. Thankfully, with the help of community backers like you, we will be able to spread that workload and get the game done! Beta/Early access members will always have access to the latest DRM free upload, should any problems occur.
