The first volume in the series has now been completed and after hearing your feedback and listening to your advice we have decided to launch this campaign to fund the next two volumes in the series.
Thanks to the support, feedback and advice of the Kickstarter community we have altered the planned story-line of the final two volumes to resolve some issues we had... Now with your help and advice we hope to complete the series started earlier this year.
Swords of Edo is a graphic novel series about a group of female warriors trying to keep the realm of Edo safe from conspiracies, serial killers and usurpers.
Set in an alternate timeline where Japan remained isolated from the rest of the world and the Emperor and Shogunate both lost power to other forces. The peace of the realm is now constantly being threatened.
'Justicar' - An appointed officer in the court of Edo.
Justicars are proven warriors with a reputation for high moral standards. They stand alone to fight against any threat that they perceive to exist.
'Edo' - The original name of Japan
In this alternate timeline.
The past changed when the Emperor and Shogunate went to war and both were destroyed. Eventually a council of nobles came into power to stabilize the country.
'Lord Regent' - An appointed Figurehead of the Council of Nobles
In modern Edo he is little more than a political puppet for the nobles, his only real power is in his ability to appoint new warriors to the ranks of the Justicar.
The second volume will continue the story... Kami has died, the Lord Regent is injured, and many questions remain unanswered...
Why were the rebels so poorly organised? What was their long term goal if they had succeeded? and Who was really behind it all? As Asumi begins her investigation another threat makes itself known in the form of 'Ronin', the first mass murderer of Edo.
The third volume in the series will conclude the stories shown in volumes 1 and 2, with the Justicars continuing to fall, only three remain to protect Edo whilst civil war between the nobles erupts.
It will be up to the Justicars in the final volume to decide the future of Edo and resolve the civil war before the bloodshed becomes to great.
The Justicar warriors were originally created by the council of nobles about half a century ago and are now instrumental in keeping the peace.
This series of three volumes follows the last Justicars; as they try to maintain peace within the realm, civil unrest grows and comes to a head with conspiracies, noble wars and serial killers begin to threaten to destroy everything.
As we have now achieved the primary goal we have a selection of stretch goals available which will increase the size of the two volumes and also the content in the One Book to rule reward level.
More funds mean a bigger second & third volume. Development will initially focus on the stories to appear in the print editions of Volume 2 & 3 before digital stories (Chibi Wars) are worked on.
We have a variety of rewards and add-ons available including a series of wallpapers and graphic novels as digital downloads, physical copies as well as design rewards to include yourself in the series...

Risks and challenges
Based on our experience from the first campaign and our backers feedback, we have story-boarded several different versions of the two new volumes... A 30 page version and then new sections that can be added if stretch goals are reached extending the story and providing more detail and character development.
Fuyuki Yuki our primary page artist has already begun work on volume 2, unlike volume 1 it will not be split into issues but will be one complete focused story, this is to prevent any disjointed story-lines.
All of our previous campaigns have now been completed with rewards dispatched, except for the visual novel game which continues production with its own artist creating the required assets.
If you have any queries or concerns please contact me via the 'Contact Me' link to the side, near the top or post a comment and I will respond as quick as I can... Thank you for any support you can give on this new campaign.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
