AIRPOCKET is a carry-on bag that fits in your seat-back pocket. It organises all your travel essentials in one place, right in front of you, so that you always know where everything is.
AIRPOCKET is made from neoprene, a soft but sturdy material that cushions and protects your valuables against knocks and scratches.
Before you leave for the airport, pack AIRPOCKET with all the things you need for your trip - passport, tickets, itinerary, iPad or e-reader, amenities kit, glasses etc.
When you leave the house you can be sure you have all the essential things, right where you need them.
AIRPOCKET works beautifully for every member of your family and with everything they want to take on board.
The internal pockets are flexible and accommodating to mould around whatever you place inside.
Place AIRPOCKET over the extended handle of your carry-on bag, or slip it inside your purse, handbag or satchel; it doesn't have to be an extra piece of hand-luggage. Loop the detachable wrist-strap through the handle to secure AIRPOCKET to your carry-on as you move around the airport.
All your travel documents are right there in your AIRPOCKET, easily accessible when you arrive at check-in.
AIRPOCKET can be zipped closed for security screening while the neoprene keeps everything cushioned and protected. The bright, contrasting panels will catch your attention as you gather your belongings once you are cleared.
Airlines often ask us to check carry-on luggage just before boarding. If this happens it's easy to grab your AIRPOCKET and keep the essentials with you.
Once on board, just pop AIRPOCKET into the seat-back pocket and place your larger bag in the overhead locker. It's quick and easy and you clear the aisle for others who are still boarding.
AIRPOCKET is shaped to fit deep into the seat-back pocket. It does not encroach on other passengers' space or prevent them from getting past you if they need to leave their seat.
AIRPOCKET has a wrist-strap so you can carry it hands-free and hang it on a coat hook in the bathroom.
No more phones, devices and passports left behind in the bottom of your seat-back pocket. When disembarking, take out your AIRPOCKET and know that you have everything.
Yes, I have planned stretch goals in case my funding goal is reached and exceeded. I have created two additional travel products to launch here on Kickstarter if the campaign goes well and the necessary funds are raised:
Stretch Goal #1 has been reached so the TRAVELBOOK is now available!
The TRAVELBOOK costs $29 (includes shipping)
How to pledge for a TRAVELBOOK:
If you have already pledged to the campaign for an AIRPOCKET, you can add a TRAVELBOOK by logging into Kickstarter, selecting AIRPOCKET from your list of Backed Projects, then clicking on the ‘Manage’ button at the top of the page.
Then, simply increase your pledge by $29. Don't change your original pledge selection, just increase the dollar amount of your pledge by $29.
At the end of the campaign I will send out a survey to all backers which will list the details of your order and ask you to confirm it.
If you are new to the AIRPOCKET campaign, you can pledge for the TRAVELBOOK on its own, or you can select one of the AIRPOCKET rewards and then add $29 to your pledge to add a TRAVELBOOK.
The TRAVELBOOK is designed to hold all your travel documents in a slim, flat case that keeps everything neatly organised and contained. Internal pockets hold up to eight passports, four credit cards or membership cards, multiple boarding passes and printed itineraries and confirmations. The zipped pocket is perfect for currency and SIM-cards. There is even a place for a pen.
The exterior of the TRAVELBOOK is made from the same stylish and durable neoprene as AIRPOCKET. The internal pockets are nylon and at 255mm x 175mm (and just 20mm thick) it fits beautifully into the AIRPOCKET. The TRAVELBOOK is easy to access from inside your AIRPOCKET, making check-in a breeze.
Where’s your passport? Where’s your boarding pass? It’s right there, at your fingertips, in your TRAVELBOOK.
The AMENITIES CASE has a see-through lid so you (and airport security staff) can see what's inside. It is designed to fit in the AIRPOCKET and organise the little things you need for your trip.
To add one AMENITIES CASE to your existing reward, simply increase your pledge amount by $15. You can add $30 for two, $45 for three, and so on. (see the FAQs for more detailed instructions).
AIRPOCKET prototypes have accrued thousands of frequent flyer miles as my friends and I have tested them on all kinds of aircraft, all over the world. I have consulted industrial designers, product developers and frequent flyers (including flight crew) and the design has been reworked and refined. The final result is simple, functional and beautiful to look at.
- AIRPOCKET: L 300mm x H 250mm x W 60mm (380gm)
- TRAVELBOOK: L 255mm x H 175mm x W 20mm (255gm)
AMENITIES CASE: L 200mm x H 140mm x W 35mm (75gm)
The money raised through Kickstarter will make AIRPOCKET a reality.
HOW WILL THE FUNDS BE SPENT?
$15,000 will cover the cost of:
- the manufacturer's 'minimum order quantity'
- packaging materials, fulfillment and shipping
- Kickstarter fees & charges
WHEN WILL REWARDS BE DELIVERED?
It is not unusual for a new product to take about 6 months from end of Kickstarter campaign to delivery date. There are several steps in the process and many variables to consider, and it's important to factor in a little extra time for unforeseen problems. My estimated delivery date of 1 October 2015 is realistic and I will regularly update Backers on the time frame. If any delays occur, I will let you know.
April 4: campaign ends
April 5-18: payments are processed and funds released to the Creator
April-May: final design modifications and refinements are made.
June: quality control, finalise shipping and fulfillment arrangements, procure packaging materials.
July: place the order with the manufacturer. Allow 90 days for production.
October: rewards shipped (1-3 week shipping)
Thank you very much for watching my video and reading about my project. I would be so grateful for your help - please pledge your support by picking a reward level that suits you and share AIRPOCKET with your friends and networks. Please help AIRPOCKET take off!
Hi everyone, I'm Trish and I live in Canberra, Australia. My family has watched with curious fascination as I have sidelined my career in recruitment for a shot at Kickstarter success.
The idea for AIRPOCKET came to me when I was boarding a flight and saw a passenger struggling with her carry-on luggage. Watching her rummage through her bag for her iPad and headphones, magazine and makeup bag, gave me a great idea. It would have been so much easier for her - and quicker for the people waiting to pass in the aisle - if she had been able to take all those things out in one go. I immediately pictured a slim, compact bag that would fit inside her purse, and slip easily into the seat-back pocket. A minute later I had called it AIRPOCKET.
Whenever I travel I worry about leaving things behind or losing them. I am constantly asking "Have I got everything? Did I leave something behind? And where did I put my boarding pass?" All that worry adds a whole lot of stress to the trip.
So while AIRPOCKET was initially conceived as a way to help travellers quickly settle into their seats, there are so many more benefits every time you travel, wherever you're going and however you get there.
AIRPOCKET. It's your whole trip organised in the seat-back pocket.
This is my first foray into product development so I have sought advice and guidance from a number of sources. Here are five organisations and companies that have helped me enormously and the success of my campaign is due in no small part to their collective input.
Risks and challenges
I am a first-time product designer and first-time product manufacturer however I am working closely with a new product developer who has 20+ years experience in this field, and I have complete confidence that they will be able to help me solve any problems that may arise.
I have chosen a manufacturer based on their track record of providing excellent service and high quality products.
I have chosen my shipping and fulfillment services after investigating several options and seeking advice from a range of companies that ship products internationally.
I don't have any other crowd-funding projects at the moment and I have no plans to launch any further projects. I have taken a break from my career (my 'day job') and therefore my focus is 100% on AIRPOCKET and will stay there until all my backers have received their rewards and everybody is happy.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
