Each year, Art In Odd Places (AiOP) produces a thematic public art festival along 14th Street from Avenue C to the Hudson River in New York City. From October 5-15, the 2012 edition of AiOP will take place along this major east-west corridor in Manhattan, and will center on the theme of MODEL, including ideas of fashion, prototype, pose, imitate, plan, and system. This year’s guest curators: Raquel de Anda, Christine Licata, Edwin Ramoran, John Wenrich, and Shaun J. Wright have selected 100+ artists/collectives to participate in the largest festival in AiOP's 15-year history.
This Kickstarter project will fund the three exciting public programs that we have planned for this year's festival. Our programming includes a keynote performance and workshop, a panel featuring our international participating artists, and info sessions moderated by leading visionaries that will focus on themes ranging from: new models of economic sustainability; expanding the boundaries of performance art; alternative systems for engaging communities; and reclaiming vacant, publicly owned land. All of these events will be open to the public and free of charge, but will not be possible without your support. Please donate today!
