Why we are doing this & why you should care
Not another wellness app!! What makes KeepAppy unique?
It's estimated that there are 200 wellness and lifestyle apps being added to the PlayStore and AppStore every single day. So what makes KeepAppy unique?
KeepAppy's drive to succeed comes from the founder's genuine commitment to make a difference in the mental wellness community. KeepAppy is partnering with helplines across the world to create a Global Crisis Care Network whereby users will always have access to immediate care if they need it. We are also employing a 1 for 1 business model.
Data protection has become such an important issue recently with the growing trend towards social media. KeepAppy promises to never sell your data; we consider peace of mind regarding data protection as essential to wellbeing in the modern era.
It has become common knowledge that if you are not paying for the digital product you use, its quite likely that your data is the product being sold on to others. This includes wellness apps as well, including habit and mood trackers, period trackers, journal apps and more. We consider this a complete breach of privacy and not at all aligned with the wellness community. Which is why we make a promise to each of our users never to abuse or sell your data. Additionally, we have ensured that some of our features, such as the journal entries, will be stored only on your own device to ensure the highest safety. Additionally, we have added password, thumb-print and facial locks to the app, so you can add your own security. All of our users will be hosted on AWS servers which are GDPR compliant and have a very high security capability.
Making Wellness Fun & Accessible:
We know just how hard it can be to maintain consistency with wellbeing practices. And sometimes the results can be hard to see, which is why we are making KeepAppy fun and accessible for all! We are adding gamification elements to our app in the form of Keepies. Each user will be able to choose and care for their own Keepie. The more each subscriber uses our app, the more points they will receive to play with their Keepie, similar to Tamagachis and Nintendogs.
What is KeepAppy?
KeepAppy is a holistic personal wellness app. It is designed to empower users to take control of their mental wellbeing by engaging in positive behavior practices and increasing self-awareness. Anyone who wants to improve or maintain their mental wellbeing can access whatever they need in one safe space.
KeepAppy has ten features in its wellness toolkit, based on the three center pillars of prevention, growth and care. What might work for one person might be wrong for another, so the team behind KeepAppy have designed the App with 10 features, providing each user with the ability to learn and choose whatever wellbeing technique suits them best.

Global Crisis Care Network (GCCN)
There's so many great helplines and crisis centers out there that are determined to do good. But a lot of them aren't as well known as they should be. Did you know that when travelling you are at a much higher risk of experiencing mental unwellness or even a crisis? That's why we are creating the GCCN. We are partnering with helplines and organizations across the globe to provide users with access to care no matter where they are in the world. If you're a helpline or a crisis organization, or just want to help out in any way you can please reach out to us!
Meet the Team: Aimee & Will Ben
Aimee-Louise Carton is a young entrepreneur who has experienced mental illness firsthand. From Borderline Personality Disorder to PTSD, Aimée-Louise suffered extreme suicidal ideation and almost attempted to take her life. On one particularly rainy autumnal night, she stood on the Dundrum Luas bridge, desperate to end it all, she was struggling to find a reason to live. It was then that she called an emergency helpline and after discussing her dog, Aura, with the volunteer, she walked off the bridge and got the help she needed.
In order to gain experience in a wellness startup, she joined the student project ‘Keep Appy’, a B2B product that aimed to empower employees. Aimee became more involved until she became project leader as all the previous members had left to go pursue their own paths.
Driven by desire to help solve a gap in mental illness aids, Aimée began a Masters Degree in Entrepreneurship, and KeepAppy was entered into awards and winning competitions. The software was performing well, however Aimée decided to start afresh and completely change KeepAppy with Will Ben Sims whom she met while studying on the same course. From there, the current KeepAppy model has taken shape, boasting a fresh approach to wellness.
Originally from Kansas City, Will Ben studied business at Trinity in Dublin before going on to undertake the same Masters as Aimee in Entrepreneurship. Will Ben started the Masters in Entrepreneurship to learn the skills and tools to prepare himself for when he found his entrepreneurial calling. He partnered with Aimée for one of the first projects of the Masters’ and they kept working together throughout.
Will Ben hasn't been diagnosed with a mental illness, but has experienced periods of highs, lows, and mental unwellness just like everyone has throughout life. Growing up, mental health wasn’t something that Will Ben saw as being talked about much. He never gave much thought to the importance of mental health until his uncle’s suicide in 2014. Will Ben loved the mission that Aimée had embarked on, to create a wellness app and help to remove the stigma of mental ‘unwellness’. Will Ben joined Aimee to achieve this mission and together they founded KeepAppy.
Finding a happy medium
Aimee's approach to KeepAppy comes from her experience with mental illness and her amazing recovery. These tools saved her life and she is determined that everyone should have the second chance that she so fortunately had. On the other hand, Will Ben comes at it as a regular guy who just wants to improve his mental wellbeing on a daily basis and make it available to as many people as possible. The two's differing experiences give them an all-encompassing approach to making KeepAppy useful for everyone no matter where they are in their wellness journey.
You don't need to have a mental illness, perhaps you have a stressful job or just want to feel better on the daily basis. There are tools out there that can help you, which is why we created KeepAppy!
Risks and challenges
Our biggest risk is our development. We want to give the best possible product we can offer as well as staying within a realistic budget and timeline. That is why we are developing in phases rather than doing everything all at once. Our beta launch on August 28th will be the first phase of development. We envision 3 major phases of development until the app is fully finished.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
