A haunting revelation of our final stretch goal...
And so we reveal the mysterious final stretch goal of $166,666, which is a complete rework of Asylum that will be distributed as an expansion. Whereas the original game is gritty, dark and oppressive, the additional content which we are dubbing Asylum: Memories will be dreamy, melancholic and *gasp* even beautiful. Fans of Scratches will feel right at home with its similar atmosphere of decaying beauty and sadness. I mean, look at these early screenshots:
The expansion will have a completely different story and gameplay, so it’s fully independent from the original Asylum. While the first game takes place within one night, so it’s always dark and has a very distinct mood, the new story will have another protagonist delving into Hanwell in broad daylight: an urban explorer trying to realize what became of a long-lost family member who is called Michael (hint, hint). There will be an even stronger emphasis on past inmates, their individual stories, and scavenging, in addition to a whole new breathtaking mystery. It’s the ultimate Asylum ride: one gigantic virtual building, two drastically different ways to experience it.
Asylum: Memories would retail at $10, but we’re going to give it for free when available to every backer who pledged $15 and above. We’re estimating around 6-8 additional hours of gameplay, almost a brand new game, so that’s at least 20 hours combined with the original game. A bargain!
But it’s not about the hours, it’s the experience what we care for the most, so let me show you this quick video with the mood we have in mind:
The $166,666 stretch goal is enough to get us started building this ambitious expansion. Keep in mind its release date would be around mid-2014.
Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller
You guys were amazing this past weekend, rallying to support Days of Dawn like that. It’s safe to say that you played a huge role in saving that project! I’m going to ask you one more favor: our Kickstarter campaign couldn’t have made possible without the extraordinary help from our friends at Phoenix Online Studios. They have been working closely with us since the beginning of the year to make this happen. Unfortunately, their adventure game series Cognition is having a hard time on Steam Greenlight. This quality game should have been Greenlit already so, please, if you have a Steam account consider voting them because not only they make great games and are strong supporters of the adventure genre: they’re also really cool people. It’s just a quick vote!
Even More Kickstartering
Finally, here’s another Kickstarter project ending soon that has been supporting us: ZOMBIE HUNTER. Horror movie with zombies and Danny Trejo. Yum! It looks really cool, so make sure you check out their project page.
