Ever since I was five and saw "Thriller" I have been horrified of zombies. When I saw Dawn of the Dead, I knew that I had to make a film project on the genre. I don't know what it is about zombies that makes them so horrific. Maybe its the fact that they are animated dead corpses, that they have human traits, that they want to rip you apart and eat your intestines and brains. Whatever the reason, it has brought me close several times to production only to be denied by funding. The Walking Dead has compelled me to try again to produce a quality film in my hometown of Miami, Florida and cast the contributors of the project as its cast and crew members. I know that this genre has been played out and has been done better, but with your assistance we can collectively create a quality film that focuses on the horror of living in such an apocalyptic world. Thank you for taking the time to read this funding request. - Jorge Aguiar (jorgeaguiar.com)
The video I am using is the first I ever did. Its horrible but since we are working on a moderate budget 200,000k we will have to more carefully craft the scenes and editing. I just wanted to capture the "essence" of the project. For the film we will be using professional directors and editors.
I plan to use the funding raised from kickstarter contributors to develop a great screenplay, and to hire the cast and crew necessary to produce the film. I plan to use college theatre students and new actors to play in the scenes. I will be using live blanks for the weapons with limited computer generated imagery. The zombies are going to be expertly designed and crafted for the scenes. I am going to use a fortified site as the main location with the story focusing on the collapse of its safety, and the eventual run for it scene. Filming should be concluded in 5-6 weeks.
