TEST SCAN!

Two weeks ago, we had a 35mm test reel scanned by the company who manufactures the film scanner we'd like to purchase. Yesterday, we watched the scan. The photo above is what that looked like on the big screen at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz in Austin.

The photo doesn't show the part where our heads exploded.

We were all blown away by how beautiful the scans looked. Sebastian, Chief Archivist at AGFA, put together a wide variety of film in the test reel -- from "unable to run through a projector" to pristine. And it all looked great. Big, rich, and booming.

We've made our decision and the process is underway. We're hoping to have the film scanner in-house and functioning in early 2016. From there, we'll begin work on THE ZODIAC KILLER -- our first digital transfer from the vaults of Something Weird.

We still can't believe this is a real thing that's happening. And it's all thanks to you.

Speaking of which, we'll begin fulfilling the rewards for all seven-hundred-and-eighty-three of you (AKA the most generous people on the planet) in January. Our team is small, so the process will be incremental. But we'll keep you updated every step of the way.

It's too late for an exorcism,

I'm curious about what scanner. Blackmagic Cintel? I know I've been drooling over it for awhile.
