The first thing to mention is that we don't have any plans to launch on the Epic Store at the moment.
But, we do want to give some context for that answer. We're a small studio and the funds for the project are coming from the three of us.
So if we end up in a very difficult scenario, where we have to choose between continuing the project and shutting down entirely, we can't promise we won't make some sort of deal (whether or not that's with Epic or anyone else).
The reality is that our finances have always been a source of stress for us as self-funded indie developers. The stability that a deal of some sort could offer has been something we've discussed many times, because that may allow us to create the best version of Dreamscaper possible, free from concerns about running out of money to support ourselves.
That being said - this is highly contingent on where we end up at the end of the Kickstarter.
What we CAN promise, is that whatever we do, regardless of where the game ends up:
- we'll never treat our player base with contempt
- we'll never look at the people and community who helped us get here as disposable
- we'll be transparent about why we're doing things
Hopefully that answers the question. We're sorry we can't be more definitive, but it really does depend on our situation in the next month or so.
We're happy to discuss further as well, whether that be here, via email or on our discord.
