Okay... The $15,000 is for finishing funds. I have successfully made a documentary, but we are not done yet. Now, let’s talk about legal stuff so I don’t get sued. $5,000 to hire a fair use lawyer to assist in clearing items (film clip and pictures). $300 in Entertainment Lawyer fees to make sure all my signatures and paperwork is in order; $495 O&E Insurance; $5,000 for music clearances. This price is not set in stone, but because I know the person that created the music, I plan to offer this and take it from there. $2,000 Travel to film festivals; and $2,000 to spend on making sure you get your awards.
As you can see, we’ve already run out of the $15,000. I would still love to rent out the Soho House for the private film screening and rap party and have 10% contingency costs -- but hopefully we can get someone to sponsor the Soho House for me.
I hope this brief breakdown shows where the money will go. You'll notice there's no "what I'm paying myself" line in there. The point is $15k is going to be tight. Other things are going to cost substantially more than my estimates above, so we're going to be pinching pennies every step of the way -- your contribution, no matter how small, will make a big difference.
