Lost Heaven is a comic book created by Alé Juvera and Ellis Taylor. 1885 was a lawless time, as the United States attempted to rebuild after a long and bloody civil war. While tracking a bounty to the small banking town of Lost Heaven, Veronica, a lone gunslinger, winds up with a bounty on her own head. Struggling to keep herself alive, Veronica is never sure of what is real or who is on her side. Death seems to be knocking on her gravestone around every corner.
Lost Heaven is a blend of what we loved about classic films like Fistful of Dollars, but turned upside down. Alé felt like Westerns deserved more Latino cultural influences, and this comic book combines those into one cohesive tale. In order to properly set the scene, Lost Heaven takes place in southern Arizona.
Veronica is a Bounty Hunter who travels the Arizona high desert. She is a woman of very few words, but is quick with her pistol.
La Muerte is a shadowy figure that follows Veronica. As she fights to survive in the harsh desert, Veronica is never sure if La Muerte is real. La Muerte finds herself enamored by Veronica, who chooses to surround her life in death, and affectionately refers to her as "la mano de la muerte", The Hand of Death.
Clarence Walters is the son of wealthy banker Cedric Walters. He is a trust fund kid who thinks he is entitled to preferential treatment (especially from women) simply because of his money and status, despite his often erratic and inappropriate behavior. For some reason, no one has collected the bounty marked on Clarence's head, but after traveling to Lost Heaven, Veronica soon learns why.
Ale' is the illustrator of Lost Heaven. He is an artist who now resides in San Antonio, Texas. His styles and influences largely come from 1950's and 60's manga by the likes of artists like Osamu Tezuka and Shotaru Inshinomori. Diversity and inclusivity are extremely important to him, and these ideas are a foundation of the comic books that he is a part of. He is known for his first comic, Xeno-Guardian Red Visor GO!
Ellis is the writer for Lost Heaven. They are strongly influenced by writers like Neil Gaiman and Stephen King. As a proud gay and non-binary creator, they are thrilled to celebrate cultural diversity and inclusivity with the queer and POC representation in Lost Heaven. They believe that because those people existed in that place and at that time, they deserve to be seen just like everyone else. While they have been writing all of their life, this is Ellis's first comic book.
Zac Actkinson is the colorist for Lost Heaven. Zac is a top notch industry professional colorist who has worked on many books including, but not limited to: Teen Titans, Young Justice, Transformers, Farscape, and even Xeno-Guardian Red Visor GO!
Jeremiah Lambert is a master of all arts. He has worked hard editing Lost Heaven and making sure it looks the best it can. He has also labored tirelessly on every duty under the sun, from drawing, inking, coloring, lettering and to whatever else. Some properties he's worked on include: Transformers; Masters of the Universe; Kodojo; Hell House; Nightmares in OZ; Orpheus, Xeno-Guardian Red Visor Go! and many more.
First and foremost: YOU! For taking the time to check out our project here. Even if you can't support, a share on social media is huge and we'll take any kind of support we can get.
Risks and challenges
Lost Heaven is already halfway finished. The art is done, and all that's left is coloring and lettering (which will be done by the end of the campaign). The risk is incredibly low. We will be using KS to raise the funds for printing here in America with KaBlam Printing, and to add your names on the KS backer page! Short of an act of God, this book will arrive to you in a very timely manner.
With that being said, we will be completely transparent if any problems do arise, and you will be notified regarding the solutions we will implement to solve said problems.
