Help us raise enough money to create the documentary film Aerodrome. All proceeds raised on this Kickstarter will go directly to funding the completion of this film.
UPDATE: Thank you for your amazing support…
We did it! It has been a roller-coaster couple of weeks. We
finally have the crucial funds to begin filming and production. All
thanks to your generous support!
STAY WITH US!
The Kickstarter campaign is almost over, but our journey has just begun!
It will be a long road ahead, and every last bit of support will make a difference. Aerodrome is going to be a big undertaking, with in-air footage of these biplanes in action and helicopters barrelling down the Hudson River. The funds we raised in this Kickstarter campaign will cover just slightly over the minimum budget to begin filming. We still need to raise funds to cover post-production costs such as:
- 5.1 surround sound mixing for home and theatrical release: Renting proper audio studio time, paying an engineer to convert our audio mix from stereo to a 5.1 surround mix for film festival premiers and future duplication.
- Color correction: renting a proper color timing studio and paying a professional colorist to oversee our visual aesthetic.
- Additional music rights and recording fees
- Archival footage usage fees - (These can become very costly)
- more aerial footage! - (fuel costs, camera rentals, insurance, etc).
We wholeheartedly welcome any further support from you.
As long as the campaign is still active, you can continue to pledge and receive the rewards we've laid out for you all. So feel free to keep pledging to receive your stuff!
OUR NEW GOAL: $7,500 - YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!!
- THE FILM:
Our goal is to complete a short documentary that profiles the Aerodrome, the bi-planes, and the pilots who fly them. AERODROME would utilize a combination of cinematic in-air footage, as well as high-speed cameras to capture the feeling of flight, while also offering a meditation on one of man's greatest achievements at the turn of the 20th century. You are leaving the impersonal skies of modern air travel, and entering the world where flight began.
- ABOUT THE AERODROME
The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is a true "living" museum of antique aviation located in Rhinebeck, New York. They present one of the largest collections of early aeroplanes in the world, many of which regularly take to the air in all their glory during their weekend airshows. The Aerodrome features aeroplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, early engines and memorabilia from 1900-1935. These were the golden years of aviation.

- WHERE YOU COME IN
We are counting on you to make this film a reality.
All funds that will be raised will be used to cover production costs such as equipment rentals, insurance, fuel costs for the planes, in-air flight time, music rights and recording costs, and submission fees to film festivals. The more money we can raise, the more we can invest in better cameras, more time in the air, and ultimately create a better film. Our goal is to screen it around the world through the film festival circuit where we will seek distribution, and with your support, we will create more awareness of this amazing place, and aviation as a whole.
If we can meet our goal, most of the filming will be done in July and August with editing, music, and visual fx reaching completion by the end of September 2012.

PRODUCER/KEY GRIP/AUDIO NINJA: James Foster
"Starting in Dublin, Ireland, I began in the studio doing just about everything. First comes making tea, then assisting, then I was mixing. I have been fortunate enough to work with industry leaders at the renowned Windmill Lane Studio. My time there included acts such as The Script, the Irish Philharmonic Orchestra and The Jonas Brothers. Also, working live shows gave me experience that recently led to a seventy date American tour with Irish rock band Lluther, playing venues such as The Viper Room, LA and The Mercury Lounge, NY. Now I live in upstate New York and have begun my journey with film".

Can we exceed the goal?
YES! This would truly be amazing. Exceeding our goal would allow us to make a better movie. Kickstarter will allow as much money as is given before the deadline. This is only the beginning of our journey with this film, we are not in production yet. We have set our goal at the low end so if we were able to exceed it, it would be a dream come true and it would allow us to create a more polished piece.
Can I increase my pledge once it’s been made?
YES! Once you donate to our campaign, you may want to change your incentive reward to a different one, or increase your pledge amount. To do so, go to Kickstarter and sign in. If you go to our campaign page, the green “Back This Project” button has been replaced with a blue “Manage Your Donation” button. Click it and you can enter a new amount, or choose a new incentive.
What happens if the money isn’t raised in time?
If our goal isn’t met before the deadline, no money changes hands and no movie is made. We want to avoid this scenario at all costs!
I'm not in the US. Can I still pledge to projects?
Yes. You can pledge from anywhere.
Please don't hesitate to ask about anything (really!). We will be updating our progress periodically throughout the campaign so please check back here from week to week for the latest news and updates.
