About this project
We are Aeipathy Industries, and we are here to talk to you about our most ambitious project to date, Zeldamotion! We finally made it to Kickstarter to ask the fans for help and tell you a bit more about our tribute to one of our all time favorite Legend of Zelda storylines, A Link to the Past.
Zeldamotion is our ongoing effort to convert the Akira Himekawa Legend of Zelda manga books into a fully animated, fully scored, and fully voiced animated series. This fan project was created for the purpose to provide current and future Zelda fans with a cost-free, ad-free, cinematic experience telling the stories we love and sharing them with those who may have missed out on them.
When Aeipathy Industries co-founder Mikey Patch started the project as a hobby on his own back in 2009, it was only intended to be a motion comic, with captions for the dialogue. However, after he released the first trailer in 2010 there was a widespread call by the fans to have it voiced. Mikey decided to go for it, and when he put out an open casting call, the response was better than he ever could have expected. Among the multitude of auditions submitted were Todd Haberkorn and Kira Buckland, both talented and beloved voice actors, not to mention huge Zelda fans. After receiving their lines and being blown away by the quality, Mikey knew that he needed to take the project to the next level - full animation. Unfortunately, Mikey was on his own at this point, attempting that which would usually be undertaken by a team of full time animators, while still holding down a day job. Needless to say, progress was less than ideal, slowing to a almost a complete standstill. That all changed in July of 2011 when Mikey and I went to the Anime Kaigi Convention in Flagstaff, Arizona. While we were there we decided to sit in on a Q&A Panel being held by Vic Mignogna, whom we were unfamiliar with at the time. It was there that we first learned of his friendship and hilarious comedic rivalry with Todd Haberkorn. We quickly decided we had to talk to him about the Zeldamotion project, and once we explained it, he was immediately interested and expressed his desire to become personally involved. Since Todd was playing the part of our hero, "Link," we thought it would be perfect for Vic to bring their rivalry into Zeldamotion by playing the part of the villain, "Aghanim." It was a combination of receiving Vic's lines and Kent Williams volunteering his talents as the voice of "Uncle" that it really dawned on us just how much the project had grown, and how much potential it had. We decided we needed a name for ourselves, and Aeipathy Industries was born. The word Aeipathy means "a continued passion," and it is our own continued passion for storytelling that fuels the fires of all of our projects, especially Zeldamotion.
of A Link To The Past is about 75% complete, so this funding will be
used to complete it, and also help pay for Episode 2. Your generous donations will go toward paying the actors for their current and future work and upgrading our animation equipment with improved hardware and software to speed up the process. Money raised above our goal will go towards later episodes, and towards hiring additional animators, editors, web designers, and/or voice actors to bring you the episodes in a fraction of the time, and at a higher quality standard.
For your donations, you will be rewarded with a number of gifts such as exclusive A Link To The Past Series DVD's, Soundtrack CD's, Shirts, Posters, Art books, and even the opportunity to be turned into a side character that will appear in episodes of the series!
"Though the first series I am working on is A Link To The Past, the next
project I will undertake is Ocarina Of Time, which is my personal
favorite Zelda game."
- Mikey Patch
We are incredibly grateful for all everyone's support and kind words of encouragement, and like always, we could not do it without you! We love you all and want to bring you the highest quality entertainment we can, free of charge, by fans - for fans!
