First off, thank you for visiting my page and I hope you enjoy learning about my latest project!
The project is a full-length album, which I've been developing for quite some time now. The music is electronic-based and incorporates samples of jams that I've had with my friends as well as samples that I've recorded singing and playing Djembe, synthesizers, and trumpet. I've also incorporated soundscapes, both natural and anthropogenic (human made) to add to the dimensions of this album as a conversation about the natural world and our interactions with it. Why? Well because I wanted to weave together my undying passion for sound as a form of art and my other unrelentless concern for the state of our planet's health as well as that of all humans, present and future.
Umani means 'Humans' in Italian. I decided to name the project Umani because the music is inspired by my studies revolving around humans and their interactions with the environment. The idea that humans have been making impacts in their environment over time, whether positive or negative, is intriguing to me, and so my compositions are an attempt to explore the impacts that we make every single day. My compositions on the album share the titles of daily activities of human societies the world around like 'Consume,' 'Engineer,' and 'Survive!' Ultimately, art for art's sake requires that I let your mind explore for yourself, so I don't intend to prescribe anything to the listeners. Rather my intention is just to begin a dialogue of the cross sections between music, art and science in uncertain times.
I've had the wonderful opportunity to work with Luke Argilla, who is one-third of the San Francisco electronic Drum and Bass group known as Bachelors of Science. He will be helping me in finalizing the mixing and mastering of the project. He has his own label as well called Sublife Recordings. We also happen to be relatives through my aunt's and his first cousin's marriage.
The Rewards! What you'll get for helping me out:
I have prepared many musical rewards for your awesome generosity. If you are a fan of ambient sound, you will want to check out Reward #7. It includes the uncut soundscapes that I recorded around the country during the production of the album. If you are a fan of rap and hip hop music, you will want to check out Reward #5. I have collaborated with some local Chicago rappers to spit a few rhymes over some of the tracks from the album. There are also some tracks that didn't make the cut to the full length album, so if you want more music, check out Reward #6. If you would like an electronic tune written especially for you in your name, check out Reward #10! Finally, IF YOU WANT YOUR NAME IN THE ALBUM CREDITS, check out Reward #9! Thank you so much for your help!

Risks and challenges
There are always necessary risks and challenges in any worthy endeavor. Reaching my deadline that I've set for myself will be challenging, but with generous support from viewers like you, May 2013 will be a month to remember!
I have come this far in the album making process to go back, and while I would've liked to have gone through this process a lot faster, I won't regret the amount of time and effort that I and my producer, my family, friends, roommates, and supporters, have all spent putting this project together.
I hope to reach the ears of those who not only enjoy music and art, but also have a deep concern for the environment. If I can make a positive impact on my listeners, then I have accomplished my goal. Ultimately, I seek a globally conscious community that is motivated to make a positive impact in the world together.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
