“Ah, the price of power. I have sacrificed more than you will ever know. Do you really think you have what it takes to be in this position? Very well … come with me and I’ll share with you what I have learnt, son.”
Europa Universalis:The Price of Power captures the essence of the award winning Europa Universalis PC game, and once again brings this epic strategy experience back to the tabletop. This is in every sense a true 4X, grand strategy game, cast in a historical setting.
Take your realm from its historical starting position as a medieval European kingdom in 1444, and transform it into a global empire where the sun never sets.
26 years after Philippe Thibaut made the original Europa Universalis board game, it finally returns to the tabletop.

The Solo Mode has been created by renowned game designer Dávid Turczi. His previous projects include Anachrony, Dice Settlers and Days of Ire, and he has crafted solo modes for well known games like Teotihuacan, Cerebria and Petrichor.
Included in both the base game and deluxe edition is solo rules booklet, 2 solo bot minicard decks and bots for 4 major power realms in the Base game, and 3 more major powers in the Deluxe edition.
The development diary about the solo mode, published in June, can be found here.

Your Face as an Advisor
If you chose this pledge, you can send us a picture of your face*. Then our artist will draw your portrait as an Advisor on one of the game's Action Cards. We reserve the right to alter features so it will fit the theme of the game and to make sure that we have enough diversity in the artwork. We will let you know beforehand if we decide that this is necessary, and you will have a chance to revert to a standard Deluxe pledge if you are not satisfied with this.
*We will give you a deadline and instructions on how to take the picture. You need to send the picture within the deadline we give you. If not, we cannot guarantee that you will be in the game.
If you are a retailer or own a game store and are interested in buying multiple copies (6 minimum) pledge 1$ to access the Pledge Manager and please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Retailers will be verified.
If you are a distributor and want to distribute our game, please contact us at email@example.com.
We can refund you within 14 days of the campaign’s end, fees included. After that, we will still offer a refund, but will be deducting Kickstarter and payment processing fees (which we cannot get back from them after 14 days). Once we have begun packaging your pledge for shipment, no refunds are possible.
This project is being funded in NOK and any refunds processed will be in NOK for the exact amount received in NOK, excluding any applicable fees depending on the time of the refund being processed.
Risks and challenges
The game design and graphics for both the base game is 90% ready and the additional deluxe edition material is currently being play tested. It has been blind playtested and adjusted throughout the design process. The reason for us using Kickstarter is that we need funds to be able to print and ship the games to you!
There are few risks involved in our project as the vast majority of the work has already been done. This is a labour of love, and the time and effort put into the making of the game is a testament to the determination we have in making this game a reality.
In Paradox Interactive we have a partner who takes the utmost care to make sure that their brand and intellectual property rights are represented in the best possible way. They have followed every step of the development process this far, and will continue to ensure that the quality of the game satisfies their high standards.
We have collected quotes from the most trusted manufacturers in the business, and will pick the manufacturer that can deliver the best possible product. We have been talking to these manufacturing candidates for the past year to make sure that all the components will satisfy our vision for the game.
With our experience from publishing we know how to make sure that no detail gets missed, and will only accept the best quality components. We are confident that you will be delighted with the game and are ready to proceed with production as soon as the Kickstarter ends.
The biggest risks to this project are the things beyond our control: Shipping delays and any fluctuation in exchange rates.
We have tried to adopt a 'worst case' scenario in terms of the estimated delivery times in case anything happens.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
