Thank you SO MUCH to everybody who got the project funded within 2 days of launch! I'm so proud and happy that we could make this happen. I've added some stretch goals which we can aim to hit which add new content for existing backers and new people alike. See the stretch goals near the bottom of the page!
D&D is an incredible game and a hobby which brings people together from all walks of life. I've always wanted to create a project that combines my twin passions of D&D and the LGBT community. Which is how Adventuring with Pride - an LGBT Themed D&D 5E Supplement - came about.
Adventuring with Pride is a full-colour, 50+ page book for the 5th Edition of the World's Greatest Roleplaying Game, available in both PDF and Hardback. The book contains:
- Four One-Shot adventures!
- Three Pre-Made Characters and a ton of NPCs!
- More than a dozen unique themed items!
We have commissioned some incredible artists for this project: Some pieces, including Vicki Mockery, are from the amazingly talented Abbigayle Bircham (@abbiesart on Twitter). Others are from the wonderful Katerina Gorinskaia (@leo_lenti_art on Instagram).
Let me introduce you to Vicki Mockery, one of the three pre-made player characters. They are a fierce drag queen with a sharp wit and an even sharper axe. I've always wanted to see more iconically LGBT characters in D&D, and what's more iconic than a drag queen?
Adventuring can be so... tiresome. Why not relax at the famous Enchanted Woods Inn, with like-minded fellows? Enjoy fresh homemade brew, live drag entertainment and comfortable accommodation. At least, that's what you might have been in for before the shadowy Queen took over...
Uncover the mystery surrounding the Enchanted Woods Inn in the first of our three one-shots in Adventuring with Pride!
Has your "Longsword +1" started to bore you? Do you long for some items with a bit of flair and pizzazz? Why not get your hands on such items like The Whip of Domination, or the Dagger of Harm-ony?
The Pocket Workshop is a trio of people (including me!) who produce incredible, custom 3d-printed miniatures for tabletop games. We've worked with the amazing Dark Realms Forge (@darkrealmsforge on Instagram) to model and print a custom party of miniatures to play the Adventuring with Pride one-shots at the table! The miniatures will come primed and ready to paint.
Here's a picture of all three primed. We're currently getting the first round painted so you can see just how amazing you can make them look!
And this is each of the three models:
What does the money go towards?
The funds raised through Kickstarter will be spent on:
- Finalising the content of the book;
- Running the full print run of hardcover copies;
- Printing miniatures;
- Proofreading and editing;
- Commissioning more incredible art from the artists I love so much.
All for a good cause
LGBT causes are incredibly close to my heart. While all proceeds from the Kickstarter will go towards production costs, 50% of ongoing sales from the print run of Adventuring with Pride, and future virtual sales, will go to Stonewall, an LGBT charity which does incredible work for marginalised people across the world. The more we make through the Kickstarter, the bigger that print run can be!
[Note that you may need to pay customs fees when ordering to countries outside of the European Union - this varies by location.]
Risks and challenges
One of the three one-shots is in the second round of playtesting - the second one-shot is making great progress. All three characters are well fleshed-out and the body of art for the book is growing fast!
If the Kickstarter doesn't reach its funding goal, I'll still be publishing at least the PDF for sale when it's finished. Sadly if we don't succeed in the Kickstarter, the chance of ever publishing a physical copy is slim.
As this is the first time I have run a Kickstarter campaign there is always a chance of unforeseen issues. I have an incredible group of people helping to make this work, but if any issues come up I will let you know as soon as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
