Stretch goal: 11K
For 1) compensating the photoshoot #1 volunteers (Yana Marks, Manuel Martagon, Thomas Lee, Katrina Mateo, Raymond Manalo, Justin Tinker, and Kristen Butcher) as well as Eric Read, the drummer on the track. These talented, good people all pitched in for practically nothing because they believe in me, so this this the least I can do.
and 2) repairing my violin before we start recording.
Thanks for your consideration!
Hi! I'm Adrianna Mateo: violinist and rock singer-songwriter. I'm super excited to record my first album. :)
I'm a completely self-managed and self-promoted artist. On my own - with a violin, a laptop, and womanly balls of steel (I'm sure that's problematic from a feminist POV, but stay with me here), I've landed gigs on the main stages of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Winter Garden Atrium (the only solo act in the eight-hour, all-star Bang on a Can Marathon lineup), TimesCenter (with DJ Spooky) and Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I've performed internationally in Africa (via One Young World), Europe (on a self-organized, self-produced solo tour in my junior year), and in Asia. I've learned 7 instruments, the main one being violin (with classical rigor, I practiced 6 hours a day to perform two-hour recitals) and been praised for my work in The New York Times, TimeOut NY, and on the front cover of QGuide. Additionally, I've been invited to perform with FKA Twigs; conducted orchestral premieres at Merkin Hall and the Dimenna Center, and met Richard Branson, Arianna Huffington, and Reggie Watts along the way.
It's been quite a journey for this Queens-born, Filipina, feminist Harry Potter fan. ⚡

To move my career forward, I've done some pretty crazy things: organizing fifteen-people photoshoots (personally taking care of production, props, and wardrobe... complete with midnight H&M runs and calls to that one cranky dude who's on the brink of dropping out of the shoot), pausing everything to perform last-second international concerts, and voluntarily moving out of a stable living situation (check out the Kickstarter video at 3:05) so I can safely pursue my art.
I know this probably seems crazy. Who moves to a new apartment every 2-3 weeks, all for the sake of recording an album?
The answer is, you do crazy things for love.
This is what I've been working towards my entire life. This is what I'm supposed to be doing; this is where my soul needs to be.
My ultimate goal is to internationally tour as a headlining act, win Grammies, and give back to students, creatives, women in need: basically, I want to reach Swiftian levels of galactic awesomeness. :)
To do this, I need your help. I've already been making ripples with the right people. I need help to finish the album and seal the deal.
Studio time is expensive, and I want to pay all of the artists on the record fairly -- which is why I chose to roll the dice, setting the all-or-nothing goal at 10K. A solo album is too much for me to write, sing, "violin," AND fund on my own. Feel free to check out my work here on Kickstarter (or all over the internet, really). If you like what I do, please donate or share the links below.
There are only a few days left in my campaign; I'd be truly grateful for any help you can give.

Risks and challenges
Recordings last forever. I tend to be suuuper specific about how I want to tweak a track; as a result, my creative process is sometimes on the slower side. I've set what I think is a reasonable timeframe in the rewards descriptions, but more intricate tracks may take more time to get right. I'll stay in touch with backers about the progress of the album.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
