Parallella Reference Manual

Posted by Adapteva (Creator)

Now that the Parallella board design is finally stabilizing we can release rev-zero of the Parallella Reference Manual. Here is the blog post describing the document release. In the same post, we also published the Epiphany-III data sheet for the first time. We really look forward to your feedback on both documents. Please register any comments at

Some other milestones since 1/1/13:

  • Yaniv showed that the Parallella clusters are ready to scale with an MPI demo.
  • Roman ramped up the 64-core Parallella prototype platform as shown in this post.
  • Today we shipped the first 64-core Parallella prototype system, 6 more are ready to ship out Monday!
  • In January 2,700 people expressed interest in buying additional Parallella boards at Once we open up for general orders, people on the reservation list will get first dibs. Not cutsies!

Rofl. They have 3 1/2 months left before expected delivery. With circuitry finalized, some prototype boards going out, and a datasheet I'd say they are making great progress and on schedule! Excellent!

With beta testing having their boards this week I feel more confident that what we get will be well tested.

@alan @foxfirerage The estimated delivery time for the bulk of the boards is May (as stated at the beginning of the project). The boards of course include all the components soldered down already, no soldering required.

Reference Manual is good and all but I have yet to get my boards...
so yeah a Manual dose nothing for me and i cant let you know if its good or not if i cannot apply it :/

This parallella design is just a module. Do we (the bakers) will receive the base board in order to test it? Otherwise it will be just a paperweight for many people who cannot design a base board and solder connectors on this module. I hope Adapteva is thinking about it.

Great update! Is there a manner for a backer to increase ones pledge to improve on the reward? Or will we need to add to the reservation list on the website?
      Thank you, Gpurd.
