      Great news! It's become clear from many other Kickstarter projects that the scheduling, logistics, and shipping are often harder than implementing the idea.

      I remember back in update #42 there was a promise of weekly shipping updates - that is maybe a bit too much but it has been a month and it would be good to know where we are in the queue and a projected date - I'm backer #1,956.

      I got one 16-core yesterday. Nothing else but board. First thing I noticed is temperature. This beast runs hot. It gets to 80C easily; I guess fan + heat sink would be required if running 24/7.

      However, I have a question about a "An Introduction to Parallel Programming" book. Is there any progress about that at all?

      I received my board a little while ago in Canada and was pretty dismayed by the CoD I had to pay at the door, as I had added an additional sum to my pledge to cover international shipping costs. After a quick complaint to Adapteva, I was very impressed with their immediate response. They offered to reimburse the CoD cost. I declined, as I really just wanted them to know that Canadian deliveries would incur the CoD costs. Adapteva offered to try a new delivery method, using USPS only to see if it would help and asked if I'd be willing to have something shipped to me as a test. I agreed and thankfully there was no CoD cost at the door. Now Adapteva has a nice, CoD free shipping method to Canada. Thanks Adapteva, your Customer Support is excellent!

      Hi Andreas, if someone wants to add slave AXI Bus modules in the FPGA, will it be possible to do it by USB or we need some kind of JTAG cable? Also, do you think you could provide drivers to access AXI Bus Master interface, or add uio_pdrv_genirq (“UIO platform driver with generic interrupts”) and uio_xilinx_apm drivers to the default build? You can find them in the Xilinx Linux kernel located here https://github.com/Xilinx/linux-xlnx/tree/master/drivers/uio

      @tom they didn't just put it off. Several comments said "no this is all the money we need" and that they were the experts. Not mentioning it is one thing straight denial is another. Either way they both speak poorly of a company and are required by KS to state the risks. Even in gambling you have to be honest about the odds not lie to peoples faces.

    48. Missing_small

      Creator Tom Clarke on January 20

      @JK
      For what it's worth, I can understand why the announcements about needing investors was off putting, I felt a little miffed when I found out too, but I don't hold it against Adapteva, you could tell right from the start that they were being pretty optimistic with their targets, but I wanted them to dream big and give it a shot. Now with the external investors it looks like we're on the home straight.

    49. Missing_small

      Creator Tom Clarke on January 20

      @JK
      "You also have to remember KS projects, while they might fail, they still have a legal agreement to provide the rewards (if you don't think this is the case then you haven't read the KS legal statements)."

      Oh really. Well let's look at some of those legal statements shall we...
      http://www.kickstarter.com/terms-of-use/
      "Project Creators are required to fulfill all rewards of their successful fundraising campaigns or refund any Backer whose reward they do not or cannot fulfill."
      "Kickstarter is not liable for any damages or loss incurred related to rewards or any other use of the Service."

      So the project creator is either required to provide the rewards OR provide a refund. Furthermore, Kickstarter takes no responsibility for losses incurred through using the site. So in summary, you can either have what you paid for, or you can have a refund, there is no obligation beyond this.

      Perhaps it's not clear, but Kickstarter is not a pre-order service, it's an investment service. You're taking a gamble on the projects you like coming to fruition because you want to see them exist. There's no guarantees of success.
