This project is the result of my 20-year journey with Argentina and tango music. After learning and performing with some of the best tango musicians in New York and Buenos Aires, I've recorded my first album of original tango music. The result is an album about tango, my music and the guitar.
In the spring of 2015 I decided it was time to be a bandleader for the first time, and I started the Adam Tully Trio as a vehicle for my music and my arrangements.
I made this record by working hard and working constantly. For 18 months we, my trio and I, played gigs just about every week, and we rehearsed as often as possible. And we've just finished recording the album, which features 11 tracks. There are 8 of my compositions, one of my arrangements of a classic tango, and two new original compositions by Emilio Teubal and Fernando Otero. Special guest Felipe Traine recorded baritone guitar on one track which we recorded in Buenos Aires.
My trio is:
We visited Oktaven Audio in Mount Vernon, NY, and Estudio Doctor F. in Buenos Aires, recording with Ryan Streber and Florencio Justo.
Risks and challenges
Good News: the recording piece of the job is already done! Once we meet our budget we'll be on track for an April release.
Our big challenge is to pay for the remaining budget items:
-Cover Art and Design
-Digital Setup and Delivery
-Paying artist royalties to my band
-Paying mechanical royalties to the three composers other than myself
