TRŪ is a cruelty-free, consciously-made, and vegan hand-care line made with the finest herbs and essential oils. 100% of profits generated by TRŪ will be used to fund our manicurist school, Adamo Nail Lab. In The Lab, we educate students who have been trafficked, exploited by the commercial sex industry, or are at-risk into the trade of manicuring.
After opening The Lab in the fall of 2017, we realized pretty quickly that our manicurist instructor had more to offer our students than nail education. As an expert herbalist, aromatherapist, and reflexologist, our instructor began teaching our students the beautify and benefits of using nature as a main ingredient in the products we use. As part of the curriculum, we began making these natural products in The Lab and were shocked by the result. Not only did product-making become the students' favorite subject, but we also saw incredible, long lasting results when testing these products on eczema-ridden skin! We were hooked and soon made a test line that we sent out to a dozen of our biggest supporters for additional testing and feedback. The results where overwhelming.... EVERYONE LOVED IT! We expanded production to create a larger test batch over the holidays and sold out within 2 days. With these learnings under our belt, we're ready to expand production.
Those that backed our first successful kickstarter or have followed along our journey have witnessed the miracles and energy surrounding this incredible mission. Every goal that we've set out to achieve has been met and exceeded -- TRŪ hand-care by Adamo is no different. Similar to Adamo Nail Bar, we are confident that this product line will become a sustainable revenue stream to fund not only The Lab, but will also allow us to become supporters and financial backers for organizations fighting human trafficking around the world. The possibilities and scale we envision with this product line are endless.
100% of your contributions to this project will go to creating and expanding the TRŪ product line, including:
1. Manufacturing Space
2. Supplies and Ingredients
3. Package Design and Bottling
4. Marketing and eCommerce Support
Risks and challenges
Potential risks in our plan are:
Delay in commerce build out -- We're currently looking for the right ways to balance both online and offline sales. We have a team of designers that are passionate about this product and we believe that together they will be able to work through the kinks uncovered.
Manufacturing -- Right now we mix and bottle small batches at a time to ensure our level of quality is met. As we begin to mix bigger batches, we will need a bigger workspace with commercial equipment to measure, mix, and make the products at scale with the same small batch quality. If we run into a space problem we will continue to mix and make smaller batches but we will need more hands and increased production time.
Design & Labeling -- Currently we design, print, and place all of the TRŪ labels on by hand and in-house. We will be working with a graphic designer to bring a little more personality to our label design and are looking for ways to print directly on our bottles. Our team can get pretty finicky from time to time over small details, but we have selected a panel of advisors to help us overcome these design decisions should we get stuck.
