What's going on?
Hey Guys, I'm making a film! I'm Adam Munnings, the writer and director of Who's Gonna Save Us which is my graduate film project at dBs Berlin. It's a 10 minute short film about a girl who kidnaps her mother from hospital, takes her to a utopian-like room she's created, feeds her a mandarin and then there's a twist baby (but more about that later).
I have a super talented cast and crew who are all so generously giving up their time free of charge to work on this project and we need your help to make it a reality. By donating to our Kickstarter campaign you are helping to fund, equipment rental, studio hire, food and transportation for our team, props and materials for a set we're building from the ground up. Check out some of the backing rewards we have on offer and treat yourself by helping us make some magic!
Tell me a story
A nurse sits in a baby blue reception booth at a hospital. Staring into space she slowly feeds herself orange cheetos from a bowl on the counter alongside a small maneki-neko waving rhythmically. Her hair is orange and she dreams of being in love. The time is 5pm and she places a 'visiting hours are now over' sign on the counter with her cheesy fingers. In a sterile hospital room with machines beeping and buzzing, a fragile older woman sit in a bed with a table wheeled over her lap. A cannula full of blue liquid is in her arm and she places the last few pieces of a puzzle in place.
A mandarin sits on the counter of a suburban household. Two fingers suddenly dive into the flesh of the fruit pulling out a key. Soon enough the girl with the key drives a white mustang out of the garage. She pushes an empty wheelchair past the nurse who is still dazed and cheesy. She enters the hospital room, tears out the woman's drip, places her in the wheelchair and frantically exits back past the nurse. The cheetos are done. The nurse cries.
The girl pushes the woman through a bedroom door. The bedroom has beautiful wooden walls, shag-pile carpet, huge mandarin trees, a record player, a bed dressed for a queen and many other magical trinkets and treasures. The girl rips the hospital gown off the woman and dresses her in a formal gown. She places her on the bed and inserts a new cannula, this time with orange liquid.
Mother and daughter finally reunited. A hospital bed is a place to die. This room is a place to live. But how much life is left to live before one doesn't know they're alive? The girl picks a mandarin and feeds it to her mother.....
With your help and contributions we will see how this beautiful story ends!

Risks and challenges
The clock is ticking for Who's Gonna Save Us with a submission deadline of June 17. Our producers Niklas and Valerie are working super hard to confirm scheduling and production to keep us all organized. The film's funding is essential to its creation and is arguably one of our biggest challenges but with your help it will be smooth (fingers crossed) sailing. Like I mentioned before we have an amazing team of committed people all invested in this project and with all films we will face small roadblocks and challenges but I'm certain we can overcome them!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
