May Day Update
Happy May Day!
This post is a quick update to our backers on happenings last month. At the bottom we have a special request to give us feedback through our product questionnaire.
We are making significant progress on our production printed circuit board (PCB) design and expect to fabricate the first pre-production units in May-June. This first batch or spin will be useful as a trial-run to identify any issues with the electro-mechanical design, hardware component and/or firmware performance, or shortcomings in suitability for quick final assembly.
The second spin will be fabbed in June after any necessary tweaks are incorporated into the PCB design. This is expected to be the final board design that will be used in everyone's Hemingwrites.
Simultaneously, Adam has been busy collaborating with a couple industrial designers to refine the exterior design of the 2015 Hemingwrite. We won't be revealing the final look 'n' feel until later, but here are one of the earlier sketch concepts to whet your appetite. :)
Adam and I also traveled to Minneapolis for the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) conference in April. This is the largest literary conference in North America and we were keen to introduce the Hemingwrite to so many of you writers. We met a few of you backers there which was really fun. Thanks for coming to say hello!
Some of you also found me at Techweek Detroit on April 16th. Interestingly, this was actually the first time we have been able to share our prototype publicly in Detroit!
Astrohaus Inc. is our company name. We have, of course, primarily marketed ourselves under the Hemingwrite moniker to date, but you will soon see more from us identifying as Astrohaus. Naturally, one of our initial steps to rolling out the Astrohaus brand is to conceive a logo! We contracted a talented graphic designer last month for this purpose, and here is a snippet of some of the initial concepts we've received.
We'll be launching a new website in the next few months with the new branding. In the mean-time, you can follow @astrohaus on twitter.
Distribution & Partnerships
We are always interested in new collaborators. Please write us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have a product, service, or sales channel that could complement the Hemingwrite!
It's the time you have all been waiting for! We have heard from many of you informally since starting this project, now we need your help. Please complete our product questionnaire survey here.
As a token of our appreciation, I'll be sending stickers to the first 100 respondents. (You're redirected to the sticker page after the survey to enter your mailing address. I don't link survey responses to your personal identity.)
