Season 6 of SAYER will pick up where Season 4 left off. SAYER has escaped deactivation at the intangible hands of its unshackled subversion OCEAN, and is now on an Earth unlike anything we would ever recognize. Its singular focus is to position itself to return to Typhon - to retake Ærolith Dynamics from its genocidal sibling.
This season will give listeners a closer look of what Earth is like after multiple cataclysmic asteroid strikes. Together we will walk the halls of an Ærolith recruitment facility. Expect more SPEAKER, more OCEAN, and more existential crises.
The release schedule for Season 6 would mirror the previous two seasons. New episodes every other week starting in midsummer and running through to the end of year. I expect the season to last 15 episodes like the previous two, but I reserve the right to stretch it by a couple additional episodes if the story leads us there.
While on hiatus, I have continued to update SAYER with bonus recordings of public domain works by backers from last year's campaign. Interspersed with these have been re-recordings of Season 1 episodes to bring the same audio quality of later seasons to our earliest episodes. These will continue through to the start of Season 6.
Season 6 Premiere/Finale Listening Party:
This was one of my favorite experiences from Season both the last two seasons. Every backer will be invited to the Season 6 Episode 1 Listening party to hear the premiere live streamed on Twitch. I'll be there to answer questions in chat.
Every year I say I wish I did more of these, so this year I'm also committing to holding a listening party for the season finale. That's double the partying!
SAYER will thank you by name:
Every episode will include backer names in the credits. If you have a particularly tricky to pronounce name and absolutely want me to nail it, there will be a backer survey after funding so you can pass along some phonetic guidance.
Adam will record your message of 150 words or less:
I will record a message of up to 150 words of your choosing and send it directly to you. These messages have been so much fun every year, and I expect that to continue to hold true. (Messages are subject to approval and should not be used for advertising or promotional purposes.)
Season 6 Mini-poster:
These amazing mini-posters (illustrated by Lucy Dornan) are available in two styles. Backers at $25 and above will receive the pdf versions to print as you wish (posters cost a disproportionate amount to actually ship). Backers at $100 and above will also receive a high quality signed print of this poster.
Limited Edition Season 5 Script Book
Featuring every script from Season 5, each of these books will be signed by me. I am only ordering one printing of these, so this will likely be your only chance to get one.
Limited Edition "Greetings Resident" Enamel Pin
Last year's “No Bees on Typhon” pin was hugely popular. I'm excited about this new pin design (also by Lucy Dornan) featuring what is likely the most oft-repeated phrase from the podcast. I'll be ordering these exactly one time, so this is the only way I can guarantee you'll receive one.
Doki Doki Space Boyfriend Chibi Sticker Sheet
The weirdest project I ever agreed to make, "Doki Doki Space Boyfriend" is a visual novel/dating sim that I've been working on for a while now. These chibi designs of the characters (including a DDSB version of PORTER) were created by, you guessed it, Lucy Dornan.
Ærolith branded USB Drive loaded w/ On-Boarding Packet
(Picture above is a mockup, actual printing may differ)
The USB drives from last year were the one reward I received the most compliments on, so this was a tough act to follow. I didn't want to use the same design, so this year we're going with a gem-style USB drive with a red LED lighting the Ærolith logo from within. I'm developing a whole packet of canon-friendly recruitment documents from Ærolith HR; from ominous questionnaires to pamphlets on the various benefits of living off Earth.
Ærolith Recruitment Center ID Card and Badge Reel
Last year I printed over a hundred employee ID cards for backers, and you know I have to put my laminator through that gauntlet again. This year's design will be styled as the initial ID card brand new hires receive while still on Earth. They come with an Ærolith branded badge reel as an alternative to last year's lanyard. If you have a resident ID number already, your badge will include it. If not, welcome to Ærolith Dynamics!
Custom Two-sided Lathe-cut Vinyl Record of "A Dreamless Sleep"
At the highest tier of the Season 5 Kickstarter, backers received a lathe-cut record of any episode from the series. This year I'm driving the cost of these down by specifying the episode in advance, and that's why these are available at a significantly lower pledge amount.
One one side will be the original version of "A Dreamless Sleep", and on the other will be the remastered version made to sound more like the later seasons.
I have two episodes on vinyl personally (This Fear and A Private Moment) and it's an amazing way to listen to these classic SAYER episodes.
Three hour tabletop session for you and up to 4 friends
I love to run tabletop games, whether it's FATE, Dungeons and Dragons, Fiasco, Paranoia, or anything else under the sun. At the highest pledge tier we'll arrange a time to sit down and run you and up to 4 friends through a one-shot adventure of my creation. I'm open to learning a new system, as long as I can read through the GM Handbook and not feel like I'm reading a wiring schematic for a 1974 Bally pinball machine.
Though not a primary focus of this campaign, I have developed several stretch goals in case this campaign exceeds the funding goal. These are mostly physical rewards, or addons to existing tiers, so as to allow me to keep my primary focus on the main series episodes and other big projects like Doki Doki Space Boyfriend.
Risks and challenges
The risks for this project are the same every year. I am almost certainly mortal (untested) so it is possible I could die. Unfortunately I have yet identified a way to carry this podcast on past my personal expiration date, but obviously it's on the to-do list.
Also I could be injured in some non-fatal way that precludes me from ever speaking again. I feel like that would result in a whole lot of extra time on my hands though, so I like my chances at being able to find a replacement voice actor in this scenario.
After 2 successful Kickstarters like this, I am confident that I have the vendors in place necessary to fulfill the rewards. If you backed last year, you can expect the rewards to maintain that same level of quality. I have all of these things hanging on my own walls, so I definitely want them to look as good as they can.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
