Hi, I’m Kay, a quilling paper artist in Seattle, Washington.
As an immigrant and American citizen, I’ve become worried about how some GOP representatives use the wrong words to label someone. I've seen some say they may speak Canadian, Mexican or even Islamic. I would like to take this time to remind the current administration that Americans are actually allowed to use different words to say love to each other.
Immigrants have been coming to the continent of American for thousands of years. The French word for love spoken by our North American neighbors, the Canadians, is Amour, while the Spanish word for love that is spoken by our South American neighbors, the Mexicans, is Amor. United State of American citizens who may speak Arabic while practicing Islam, a religion protected by their Constitution, will use the word Hubb.
To help remind the current administration of the different ways all us immigrant Americans say love, I will make a handmade, unique postcard and send it to any representative of your choice. They can be in the White House or Congress. What they have in common is having a hard time remembering their American history class.
And if you have someone that needs more than a postcard reminder, you can include a personal note to them in a card. Please limit it to 280 characters and try your best not to use curse words.
All proceeds will be spent on art supplies that include pens, watercolor paper, Sharpies and also postage. All extra proceeds will be sent to Puerto Rico schools to purchase art supplies for students.
Risks and challenges
I’ll be making the cards as the orders come in with the materials I already have. But I will not be able to start mailing them all until the funds have been finalized since Kickstarteer is all or nothing.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
