A Crafty Arab creates original products that are fun & colourful & is seeking funding to help print Arabic Alphabet Fun Flashcards!
Arabic Alphabet Fun Flashcards!
This cute endeavor is for the creation of Arabic Alphabet Fun Flashcards that are printed on super durable coated paper that is sure to survive the strongest baby teeth known to man. The flashcards will be mailed out in a handmade bag made with awesome fun bright fabrics. 28 letter cards, an introduction card, and a game card are included with each set.
This is an example of one of the fun fabrics that I’ve chosen for the handmade flashcard holder.
Each flashcard is double sided. On one side is the Arabic name of the animal printed in blue, and also printed in the lower right hand corner is a guide on how to pronounce the name with the English translation. The other side has an image of an animal from the Arabic Alphabet poster and the first letter of its name printed in blue.
I’m very interested in sustained living and am trying to keep dollars in my neighborhood. So I’m using Marymoor Press, in Redmond, WA, as my printing source. The amount I’m seeking will exactly cover the cost of the printing of these flashcards on durable, waterproof paper. I believe that in supporting the local mom and pop business in my town, I’m helping contribute to the heartbeat in our community. If the entire set of sums is not collected, I’m afraid I will not be able to pay for this project on my own.
Here are some of the fun things you’d be getting with your contributions today!!! Remember; please share this with all your friends and family members that you like. If there are some family members that you do not like, but still think would fund this project, feel free to send me their names and emails and I’ll send them a personal email asking for help. :-) I promise I’ll be discreet and won’t share who gave me their info.
The Arabic Alphabet Fun Flashcards will be sold through my personal, Amazon, Etsy and Zibbet websites. The goal of this funding is to keep the costs of the item down and therefore getting the flashcards to more families that otherwise would not be able to afford them.
More about Koloud ‘Kay’ Tarapolsi / A Crafty Arab
Hi!! I am Koloud ‘Kay’ Tarapolsi. I am a Libyan American crafter / artist / mom of three (under the age of 10) who creates Arab, Farsi, and Urdu crafts and cards under the name A Crafty Arab. I spend most of my day making crafts, volunteering at my kid’s school as their art docent, giving tours at the Seattle Art Museum and staying active in my Arab community.
I was frustrated while trying to find a fun, bright Arabic alphabet poster for my kids and at the same time seeing very cute English alphabet posters all over the place. So one day I did something about it! I enrolled in the Washington CASH 8-week Business Development Training course to learn how to create my own poster. I hired renowned children’s book illustrator and muralist Jill Schmidt to draw the animals for me. And now, ten years after I first had the idea, the poster is sold at Ventures in Pike Place Market, Seattle, WA, Fabric of Life Foundation Store, Edmonds, WA and the Arab American Museum, Detroit, MI. I have also created magnets to go with the poster. Now my next step is to create the flashcards, so I give you a whole hearted Arabic shukran for your reading about me and for backing my project!
Yes, I will email you directly once I find out what your level of support is and how much your international bound items will cost to ship.
Each flashcard will be 5 x 5.25 inches. The buttons and magnets are 1 inch and the shukran card is 4.25 x 5.25. The size of the celebrity magnets vary as the original photos I cut out of my mom’s Sayidaty magazine are different sizes (I hope she doesn’t read that last part). The poster size is 18 x 24 inches. The canvas size is to be determined after I get more info about the personalized name and animal chosen.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There might be a risk in delays in getting the work formatted to fit on the print sheets, but everybody on this project has lots of experience delivering great Arabic Alphabet products and we have a good track record of delivering on time.
Physical rewards (other than the flashcards, which need to be printed) have already been produced and are ready to be shipped. We have already started pre-production for the Arabic Alphabet Fun Flashcard. The graphic images are complete, paper has been chosen and the printing company is ready to go to ensure that we'll be able to make the dates we've promised.
