Hi All - Here's a status update on the app as it stands for iOS and Android.
We just released a new build to Google Play. It should run faster and smoother than ever, and it should track your motion better. It is expected to work well on Nexus devices as well as Samsung Galaxy phones. Most importantly, we fixed a major issue where task switching would cause the app the hang on many devices.
We are still seeing serious freeze issues on many samsung tablets such as the Galaxy and Note, and are working to address those now. There is still no local downloader support, but it's extremely close to being done.
As it's the end of February and it's still not something we're completely proud of, we are going to extend the free beta period until late March. As always you can get the build in the Play store.
Our Android roadmap is:
- Fix the freeze issue on Samsung Galaxy & Note tablets.
- Improve camera tracking performance and video playback performance
- Add offline downloading
- For you Kindle HDX owners, we just submitted to the Kindle store. Once amazon approves it you'll be able to find it by searching for BitGym. No ETA on that yet.
Features Update (iOS and Android)
Since the app launched in December one of the most asked for features was the ability to track and record your workouts with BitGym. We're happy to announce that in the most recent version of BitGym (iOS and Android) every workout you do will be saved to your BitGym account.
If you want to view your workout history, just tap the Profile button in the main menu. Keep in mind that if you look right now it will be sparse, as previous workouts were not recorded.
You'll also notice that we're tracking calories. This was also something people were asking for. We worked hard to develop an algorithm which measures the calories burned for different exercise machines and cadence rates, but such as with any cardio calorie tracking it's only an estimate. It's one we'll make more accurate in the future as we ask you for your height, weight and age as well as as we begin to integrate with heart rate monitors.
We also improved Vault download system, added on-screen music controls and fixed some crashes on iPad2 and iPad Mini devices. Finally we removed the incline display - we decided ultimately the data wasn't accurate enough and wasn't being presented in a helpful way. We have some better ideas on how to keep you motivated and engaged, and a better version of incline and resistance will come as part of those.
We have been informed of an issue where workouts were being recorded twice, we will resolve and fix that ASAP for the effected users, sorry about that.
