Ordinary people plucked to absolve timelines through dreamscapes. Ancient fey blood grudges spill over on verdant worlds. Planar convergence sparks diplomatic crises. Accidental glitch folk alter the world irrevocably. Modern civilization bitterly submits to the bestial slivers of gods long gone, save for spite.
Absconding is a 5th edition D&D zine with a different approach. It's a fantasy/sci-fi illustrated literature journal from fresh, outsider voices. It's a gaming supplement with sharp, contemporary layout. It's also a reflection of what tabletop gaming is today: strange, enabling, and something you're welcome to be a part of.
Absconding aims to fill in this edition's release gaps with mold breaking intent. We extract intriguing ideas from stimulating stories, offering game-able options paired with fiction and illustration. We're looking at a seasonal schedule, with the first issue coming in May as the Spring 2019 release. The page count will be in the 50s, and the above preview contains 20 of them.
The authors of Absconding are new to RPG material, save for publisher and editor Joshua Rivera (who previously contributed to the Aethera Campaign Setting sourcebook). They include journalists, musicians, salespeople, artists, office workers, educators, forensic scientists, and veteran service members. We're a motley crew of loosely connected friends.
We only have one stretch goal for now: $1,300 will get us the zine in print and PDF, but $2,600 will allow us to fund the second issue and start development on it immediately.

Risks and challenges
The preview above already has content (subject to change) slated for the final product. While I'm able to provide my own layout, graphic design and illustrations, I want to involve other creatives. If the zine isn't funded, we will continue to work on releasing the first issue, albeit at a slower pace. If the zine is funded, there is the possibility of new writers or artists being unable to commit, in which case I'll take the lion's share of design and writing.
With that said, as the publisher and editor, I have the utmost faith in our team.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
