This project began as an idea to write some new music that would allow me (Andrew) to work with some of the musical friends that I don't usually get a chance to collaborate with - primarily vocalists and songwriters - so I sat down and wrote 12 pop songs. Or at least the beginnings of them. Whitney and I have been talking about making music together forever, so I took my sketches and shared them with her, soliciting input and ideas, in what I hoped would be an organic creative process that would continue into the recording studio. The results so far have far exceeded my expectations.
We recorded all of the backing tracks last year with Adam Kozie (Pollens, Snowman Plan), Tim Carey (Reptet), and Mack Grout (Zubatto Syndicate), and our hope was to finish the songs and recording earlier this year but schedules and budgets got in the way.
Over the Spring and early Summer, Whitney and I have been working on finishing the songs and now we need to raise money to complete the vocal sessions and finish the recording. We're looking to raise $3500 for another 4-5 days in the studio, plus mixing, and mastering, and anything we raise above that will go towards artwork and design and then production of a very limited run on 12" vinyl and a 7" single.
I would describe the sound we're creating as something like Devo meets Brian Eno meets Ladytron meets Gorillaz. Or something. It is filled with huge vocal harmonies, synthesizers, and guitars, powered by Adam, Tim and Mack's thumping rhythm section work. There are songs for dancing, for chilling on the stoop with a cold one, a couple of rockers, and even a tender ballad.
Everyone involved in the project is extremely excited by how things are turning out and we can't wait to share this music with you. Please consider helping with a pledge - we have some very cool rewards ranging from a single song download to a full-band house-concert. Every dollar helps!
Thanks for your time and we appreciate your support.
