THANK YOU to everyone who has backed the project so far!
If you haven't had a chance to grab a pin via the Kickstarter, they will be available via my website from October.
It's been a wild few weeks and I am over-whelmed by the support the campaign has received so far. I'm really excited to produce these pins and send them out into the world, to share with all my fellow warriors!
There's less than 3 days to go now, but we still have time to fund the fourth pin: Migraine Warrior in 4 enamel colours!
Hello everyone! My name is Abi Stevens. I'm a digital illustrator and chronic migraineur, so for my 1st Kickstarter I want to spread the love to my fellow Spoonies and Chronic Warriors!
I will be selling these pins online and at fairs, exhibitions and cons in the future, and will be donating 20% of future profits to the National Migraine Centre.
(The Kickstarter funds will go towards production costs, postage and fees, per Kickstarter rules)
If you'd like to follow the progress of the Kickstarter, you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram too. You can also find out more about my illustrations and the impact chronic migraine has had on how I approach my work by watching my PechaKucha presentation.
As a small independent supplier I can't afford the risk of funding all these lovely things out of pocket, so without pledges many of these designs would never see the light of day!
In exchange for supporting the production of these pins, pledging via Kickstarter provides you with a discount on purchase, because you're part of the process!
RRP for the pins once ordered will be £10, but as a Kickstarter backer you get a discount!
If you're lucky enough to snag an Earlybird pledge then each pin will be only £8, but if you miss out on Earlybird then each regular Kickstarter pin will be £9, which still saves you a nice 10%!
There are also further benefits to backing the Kickstarter as new goals are unlocked. For example; if we hit £1000 then all pin orders will come with a free sticker!
Everyone who orders a pin via pledge will be able to choose which pins they want as new designs are unlocked, as long as they edit their pledge before the Kickstarter ends.
What's on offer?
I have two key soft-enamel pin designs; migraine warrior, and chronic warrior.
Each has a black & gold colour-way and a 4-colour-way. I'd really love to get all 4 versions funded so that people can choose their favourites (and I have some cool things planned for further stretch goals) but our first goal is to fund Pin no. 1!
This design is for everyone! Chronic illness come in many shapes and forms, so I wanted to start with a design which is inclusive and represents the whole spoonie community.
This soft-enamel pin comes in a smart gold colour with black enamel, for those who prefer a simple and stylish look!
All the pin designs in this Kickstarter are 45mm tall, to make them extra eye-catching (and legible!)
Stretch Goal 1: £450
All pins now come with backing cards, to make sure they look extra classy!
Stretch Goal 2: £800
My second stretch goal is to fund pin design no. 2: the Migraine Warrior design in classy gold with black enamel to match the Chronic Warrior pin! Fingers crossed everyone!
Here is a mock-up photo of how the first two pins will look in real life:
Stretch Goal 3: £900
Each pledge now comes with a free 10cm holographic sticker!
Stretch Goal 4: £1300
We have now unlocked pin no. 3: the 4-colour version of the Chronic Warrior pin with black nickel.
...and here it is on the backing cards:
Stretch Goal 5: £1700
I'm super excited to hit this stretch goal so that I can produce pin no. 4: the 4 colour version of my Migraine Warrior design, in black nickel!
This stretch goal also includes backing cards:
Here's a mock-up of how pins no. 3 and no. 4 will look in real life:
If we make it all the way through the stretch goals above, more will be announced! Watch this space!
Risks and challenges
REWARDS: Currently the number available of each reward is quite small. There will be additional numbers available as each new pin is unlocked.
I wanted to make sure this Kickstarter was available to international supporters so my goal includes a rough estimate of the postage costs I will need to pay (Kickstarter counts postage towards goal totals). It's a mid-range estimate, so if the number of international packages is higher than I've guessed then I may need to adjust stretch goals to compensate as I go along.
- The Kickstarter ends at midnight on the 26th of July.
- Kickstarter funds may take up to 21 days to process, but I'm hoping to order by the the 10th of August.
- Depending on how busy the supplier is, the pins should arrive with me between the 9th and 13th of September.
- Pin orders will then be filled in the order they were pledged.
- Delivery time will vary depending on when the item is shipped, where it's going, and how much help I can get in packing up orders and posting them, so to be safe I have put the order-expected-by date at the end of October. Hopefully, most will arrive late-September to early October.
If there are any delays in processing my order with my supplier then delivery dates may be slightly delayed. I'll keep everyone up to date on order progress!
