About this project
Explorosaurus wants you to explore fun places in Brooklyn, Chicago, and DC by bike! If this project is funded, the initial run will print five spokecard guides to each city, each around a specific theme. You'll be able to put them in your bike spokes (or your handbag, your messenger bag, etc) and bike to awesome places in the city of your choice (okay, you can also walk, but biking is more fun!). After you have visited each place, mark it off with a sticker, and then feel accomplished when you've done everything on the card!
I want the long version! Tell me more about this project?!
This project is called explorosaurus. I like bicycles. And dinosaurs. This project doesn't actually have much to do with dinosaurs except that dinosaurs are awesome. It does have to do with bicycles. And exploring.
The first explorosaurus production will be to create bike spokecard guides to exploring awesome places in DC, Chicago, and Brooklyn and having great adventures. "What are spokecards?" you may be wondering. Spokecards are cards placed in the spokes of a bicycle, traditionally used for alleycat races or large group rides. In this case, they are postcard-sized cards that you can put between the spokes of your bike's wheels, and follow the charted route to fun places in DC, Brooklyn, or Chicago.
For the initial run, there will be five spokecards for each city. Each spokecard will have a theme, and guide you to four places around that theme that you can bike to. For example: The four best photobooths in Chicago, four under-appreciated monuments in Washington, DC, or four places to play Buck Hunter in Brooklyn, New York. In addition to that, if you go online, I'll have bike routes and additional tips for bike adventures on explorosaur.us!
With your help, I can design, print, and distribute the cards, as well as create an online resource with bike routes, tips, and other pretty cool things. What do you get in return? A lot of awesome stuff! Spokecards, photos of places, fun facts about each city, and more!
Want to see an example of a spokecard? Here it is!!
Thank you, and watch this space! As this project progresses you will find updates, more photos of dinosaurs, possibly demos and test runs, and cool images of dinosaurs on the explorosaurus tumblr (see also: the explorosaurus twitter and facebook).
Using my favorite printing service, http://moo.com! They will be postcard-sized (so 5.8 inches x 4.1 inches).
