Thanks to you, REZ is ready to happen! But we have some time from here to then, so lets try for something EXTRA AWESOME: ISSUE 2!
Life. Death. Rebirth. REZ
REZ is a 5 issue miniseries written by Juan Navarro, with interior art by Johndell Snead, digital inks by Cole Brustad, and cover art by Marvel and Valiant artist Jeff Dekal. The series tells the story of Jonathan “Rez” Reznick, a disgraced ex-cop who’s still trying to make a difference. While pursuing his brand of off-the-books justice, Reznick encounters evidence of a vast occult underground--precisely what cost him everything in the first place. Lucky for Rez, he has some help: all his past lives. Every life he’s lived is there to assist him, whether he wants it or not. Those who would corrupt the cycle of life, death, and rebirth will have to contend with Rez: a one-man army.
The book is equal parts police procedural and supernatural drama. Rez is well acquainted with the evils of the material world, but how will he reckon with a menace dire enough to threaten the world beyond? Expect an engrossing mystery peppered liberally with spiritual philosophy against a backdrop of non-stop action. The origins of the souls flowing through Rez run the gamut of time and place. First stop, in issue one: the Four Noble Truths of the Buddhist Tradition.
With this Kickstarter, we hope to get the first issue out with a bang. Successful funding would ensure a substantial print run to get the book out on the convention circuit and to kick off online sales. The eventual goal for Rez is a five issue series to be collected in trade paperback form. We need a strong first issue to bring that goal to fruition.

Juan is best known as the creator of the weekly webcomic series Zombie Years and a founding illustrator for Steampunk Magazine. Johndell Snead attended RCC and is currently enrolled at the Art Institute Of Pittsburgh. He currently works as an illustrator and graphic designer. In addition to providing commissioned art for a horror book by Chuck Brown and illustrating Marvel Trading cards for Ritten House, Johndell is working on a separate title for Creature Entertainment.
Cole Brustad is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Art and Design with a Bachelors in Illustration. While in college, he studied comic book art with various working professional comic book artists such as Tim Truman (Grimjack, Conan) Chris Moreno (Sidekick, Zombie Dickheads) and Bob McLeod (Co-Creator of The New Mutants, numerous pencils and inks for both DC and Marvel). In addition to inking and adding tones to REZ, he contributes inks, pencils, colors, and letters a number of other indie comics.
Jeff Dekal is a freelance illustrator currently working as a cover artist for Marvel and Valiant comics as well as Creature Entertainment and a number of other independent publishers. Jeff has worked on titles such as Marvel’s Journey Into Mystery and Inhumanity: Superior Spiderman, as well as Valiant’s Shadowman and Rai. He has also provided artwork for numerous musicians such as Mayday, Wrekonize, Royce da 5’9, Joe Budden, and DJ Burn One.
Creature Entertainment Founded by John Ulloa and Julio Alvarez, Creature Entertainment publishes graphic novels, produces short and feature films, and serves as a conduit for the labors of the writers, artists, and filmmakers that comprise its ranks. Working on a modest budget with a grassroots approach, Creature aims to put its product directly into the hands of the comic book and movie aficionado, striving for quality and integrity foremost. Releasing such books as ZOMBIE YEARS, RAVENOUS, and TS-101, Creature works as both studio and co-op allowing its creators to turn out top-level work they take pride in, and showcase at major events across the country.
Issue #1 Is nearly complete, so it's going to press no matter what, BUT but we want to make sure it has a strong print run. That means web press and big money, and a large portion of our budget. The other substantial cost is payment the artists involved. The talent has been paid for all their work, but we want to be able to pay tor the rest of the work. We at Creature are artists ourselves, so paying talent a fair rate is non-negotiable.
We’re also planning smaller stretch goals, like prints by Jose Varese, Patrick Reilly, and many more artists, plus more original art options for both individuals and stores.
We want to produce the whole five-issue series, and we’re honored and fortunate to be working with this group. We hope that you can see the potential in this series. We’ve already funded a substantial portion of this project, but we need your help to bring REZ to the world.

Risks and challenges
It is difficult to draw a large audience to an independently published book. We believe we can bring readers to REZ through tireless promotion efforts and on the strengths of Snead and Dekal’s artwork.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
