RAVENOUS is no-holds-barred horror action comic about a Native-American shaman named David Blackthorne, as he hunts down the Immortal Queen of the Werewolves, Rhea, before she can set off a global apocalypse and rend the world apart in blood and screams!
Written by John Ulloa and drawn by the amazing Jose Varese, Ravenous is taking back the werewolf mythos and bringing it to the forefront. These aren't sensitive emo lycanthropes, or shiny vampires. No, this is just savagery at its finest!
Here are some testimonials by fellow badasses in the Sequential Arts:
David Blackthorn is the last of his tribe and the last of the great hunters. They are not big game hunters, some trophy chasing thrill killers. No, the last of the true hunters are those who would hunt the most dangerous predator to walk the earth: the changeling, the lycan, the WEREWOLF. Trained as a shaman, as a soldier, and now as the last of the great defenders of humanity, Blackthorn must now contend with an ancient Death Goddess named Rhea who wants to unleash a wave of teeth and claws upon the earth to cleanse it of the cancer that is humanity.
WE JUST ADDED T-SHIRTS!
$20 you get the T-shirt reward, with downloads of both issue 1 and issue 2 of RAVENOUS and a download of THE GUN one shot!
If you want you can just add it to your reward for only $20 more!
RAVENOUS #1 opens with Blackthorn tracking Rhea across the northern coal barrens of Virginia, hot on her trail. Rhea doesn't like to be tracked, especially by prey, so she unleashes her power on Blackthorn. Now the last of the great hunters must try to survive a night of gnashy teeth and curled claws, while wounded, at a small greasy spoon diner. Can he do it?
Issue 1 is finished and was submitted to Diamond recently, and ACCEPTED! Now we are going full head-on into production and solicitation, with 8 new pages of material, for inclusion in the January 2015 Diamond Previews catalog, to be in Comic Shops, March 2015. This will require a lot of work, which has never been a problem for us, but we'll also need funds to advertise and for printing before initial orders come in. We want to make a big splash with advertisement, incentives for the Comic Shops and for the fans themselves. Plus we want to get Jose out there, because he needs to be everywhere!

Jose recently took the plunge, quit his day job, and is working on his art FULL TIME! And that means a lot to us. For any creative out there, to finally take that step into the world and swing solely on your creative skills, is HUGE. You gotta support that, especially when it's THIS GOOD.

WHO WE ARE:
We are Creature Entertainment, a Miami-based multimedia entertainment company focused on comic books and films. Our comic books and films have been highlighted at Orlando Megacon, Miami Supercon, and New York Comic-Con. As an indie publisher, we have the following comic book titles under our umbrella: The Gun, Forgive Me Father, Tommy, The Zombie Years, Ravenous, TS-101, Bubba The Redneck Werewolf, and UltraVixen. We have produced some noteworthy short films such as Reservoir Bats, Killswitch Billy, Thanks Grandpa, The Gun, and TS-101.
The Creature Entertainment fellowship is comprised of eight creatives, who span a generous range of talent, comprised of artists, webmasters, filmmakers, audio engineers, designers, photographers, writers, creative directors, editors, and prop makers. We have been laboring since 2008, with VERY shallow pockets, creating high quality books and films that try to push the boundaries. We've taken some amazing strides with the little that we have and have garnered some badges of honor along with plenty of battle scars. Despite a severe lack of resources, we have somehow managed to create an impressive body of work. The quality of our work and personal attention to our fans is helping us build a brand at comic conventions and film festivals. We see how the word is spreading exponentially. And because of this, Creature Entertainment's celebration of its fans forms part of our mission statement.
WRITER: John Ulloa
Born in Southern California and raised in South Florida, John Ulloa started collecting comic books at an early age, eventually amassing a huge collection of coveted titles. His interest in comics and graphic art–and his talent for concocting fantastic stories–led to the creation of his own publishing label High Impact Comics, whose Double Impact series took the comic book world by storm, grossing several million dollars for the nascent company. Later he launched Bulletproof Comics, working with Lo-Fi Magazine luminary Greg Narvasa and several other of Miami’s finest artists. His writing credits include the aforementioned ‘Double Impact’, ‘Forgive Me Father’, ‘The Gun’, ‘Reservoir Bats’, and ‘Ravenous’. A long-time Dungeon & Dragons player and Dungeon Master, John’s stories probe the darkness and impulsions of everyday man and his fight to resist their seduction.
ARTIST: Jose Varese
Jose’s passion for art and design can be traced back his early childhood, when his parents would ground him repeatedly for drawing on the bedroom walls. They soon discovered his creative potential encouraged him to develop his talents. Since then Jose has continued to hone his skills as an illustrator, winning regional and national competitions and collaborating with local Miami artists and community businesses. Jose’s style ranges from classic photo realistic to comic book anime and is firmly cemented on one fundamental principle. DRAW! DRAW! DRAW! On his spare time, Jose enjoys comic books, sci-fi movies, video games and most spending time with his daughters Angelica and baby Sofia. Jose was discovered in 2009 by Creature Entertainment and immediately jumped on board to illustrate the graphic novel “The Gun”. He is currently working on several projects with Creature which will be showcased in the near future.
Risks and challenges
Like we mentioned above, one of the things we're doing here is helping raise money to get the book out and to make our Diamond debut a HUGE splash. RAVENOUS Issue 1 is DONE. What we want is to make an amazing amount of AWESOME for everyone involved and get the book out in its best form. Meanwhile, we want to get the word out to everyone, through advertisement, conventions, and every other way we can, and let people understand the HUNGER we have for Ravenous. This is a chance to do it RIGHT. We got the work DONE and now we need to show it. And YOUR pledge will do that! Once this succeeds, it will just be a matter of some basic steps to get it out, and thanks to our previous projects, we know how to get that done!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
