Childhood obesity has more than tripled in the last 30 years.
There are numerous factors contributing to that staggering statistic, one of the most important being ACTIVITY! Kids are losing precious time to move, as the average daily recess is now only 29 minutes long in a 7 to 8 hour school day. The facts are simple; kids need to move more!
We are on a mission to create a children's television pilot that not only teaches kids how to care for their bodies, but more importantly, gets them on their feet and moving for the entirety of the show. Kids will follow "The Bod Squad" through adventures inside the body, learning many of its mysterious and magical functions. The Bod Squad never stands still, as they must move and dance their way through systems of the body. From the opening credits to the closing shot, kids are invited to join along and help our heroes, turning TV time into an opportunity for activity.
The pilot episode has already been written by a very talented team of Chicago writers, musicians, personal trainers and actors. As anyone in the film and television industry knows, producing a project of this magnitude requires a whole lot more! To turn this concept into a reality, it needs your help! Not only do we need to hire a talented group of artists: a director, cinematographer, production assistants, actors, make-up and hair artists, costume designers, musicians and more, but we also need to rent lighting equipment, cameras, sound equipment and, oh yeah, construct the inside of a stomach as the main set of our pilot.
We realize our $20,000 budget is a lot to ask, but it is completely reasonable since we believe it could create a new concept in kid's tv that fights the epidemic of childhood obesity. The majority of projects that succeed in raising their funding on Kickstarter do so through a high volume of smaller contributions. So we ask you to please give what you can and, better yet, send this on to everyone you know with or without children. They are our future.
