What is Mortiston, USA?
The writing and art for Mortison is done! We just need your help to bring it to print.
"Welcome to Mortiston, USA" is a multi-system zombie apocalypse set in an “average” American town. The setting is licensed for five different RPG game systems. All game stats are included for immediate integration into any game of Outbreak: Undead, Savage Worlds, The Modern Path for Pathfinder, Rotworld and OGL Modern. Mortiston needs heroes who can step up to the challenge, or only the dead and the damned will walk the streets, or something far, far worse…
Mortiston, USA tells a sad story of 191 days of death and decay at the hands of the walking dead. A full timeline is also annotated in the individual entries so that each character and location is modified by the changes that occur during the story. This is done using a combination of maps, timeline, and relationship charts detailing both the physical changes and its effects on the remaining population. So, Mortiston, USA is a RPG supplement that not only details people, places and things, but also how time affects them. We also give you a full world overview so you get a better idea of how Mortiston fits into the Grand Scheme of the entire planet.
The first Mortiston world book is a 76 page soft-cover book where you will find 29 detailed locations of interest with people to meet, equipment and supply lists for scavenging and the living dead that might inhabit them. There are also 19 living characters to go with those locations, detailed with motivations, desires, back story, equipment and statistics given for all five systems. These characters are not just survivors, they are the major players in the 8 factions vying for control of the shattered town.
Mortiston, USA can be used as an overall campaign setting for any game system. Individual locations or characters can be used to add to your own campaign setting. The story and the timeline of Mortiston, USA also provides ample scenario ideas for one-time games as well.
What are the extra perks for backing higher levels?
That’s where the fun starts. There is a fantastic t-shirt sporting the work of Madison, WI artist Keith Hill. We have at least six additional download packages that will be put out over the next year to supplement the existing work included in the book. At the highest level, there is a Special Kickstarter Edition hard cover book with a special dedication in the front to all the backers, autographed by the entire team. But my personal favorite is the eight-page My First Apocalypse Coloring Book by Matt Allen, designed to freak out all your kids teachers. (Should we find ourselves way over our goal, we have some other ideas that will knock your socks off, but we'll hold that until we see how much we make...)
Anything extra you have to tell us?
The project is the first major publication for Mark Cookman, with art being supplied by the Scrying Eye Games member James Miller. This is a giant tribute to all things Zombie, with untold references to all the things about Zombie games, book, comics and movies we all know and love.
The writing and art for Mortison is done! We just need your help to bring it to print. Many thanks to all those who supported us.
