WHO IS THE PALISADES VIRTUOSI?
Palisades Virtuosi has been passionately committed to the creation of new music for flute, clarinet and piano since 2003. Palisades Virtuosi was formed in 2002 by three friends who just loved to make music together. We quickly discovered that there was not much repertoire available for our instrumentation (flute, clarinet & piano) and decided that since we knew lots of composers, the best way to remedy the situation was to begin commissioning music ourselves. And so, in 2003 our “Mission to Commission”(R) was born. We had no idea how quickly it would take off! Along with commissioning works at the rapid pace of 4 each season, we received pieces as gifts from several composers, and also received transcriptions of existing works from other composers who were enthusiastic about our commissioning projects and wanted to be a part of it. In just 13 years we have created an amazing library of 75 new works with the help of publicly funded grants and individual contributions. (That's 75!!) We have successfully completed two previous KickStarter projects with your support (in 2010 and 2013) and now look to you to help us make this 6th volume of newly commissioned works a reality!
WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH?
The music you hear on our pledge video is not currently available to the public. You can't find it on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify or anywhere on the web. A very important part of our "Mission to Commission"(R) is to make sure that all of our new creations are heard by as people as possible. While we are dedicated to performing these new works multiple times to be sure they have ample exposure, there are only so many people who get to hear them performed live. That is why it is so important to us to preserve and distribute these pieces through recorded sound so that as many as possible music lovers around the world can hear them too!
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?
Although there are substantial grants available to help create these works, there are unfortunately very few grants that actually help to support the recording process. So we turn to you, our patrons, friends and music lovers to help us to make this 6th volume of new works a reality.
ABOUT THE MUSIC
Palisades Virtuosi champions new music not only by well-known composers but also by up and coming voices in the new music world. On this CD we feature works by Adrienne Albert, Matthew Baier, Gary William Friedman, Ting Ho, Linda Marcel, Gary Schocker and Jeffrey Scott. During each of the 4 weeks we will present a short video (longer versions for backers!) describing each of the composers and the works we plan to record.
WITHOUT your support these newly created works will be heard only by a few: WITH your support they can be heard by all. We will not achieve our goals without your support.
We are thrilled to be a part of the Kickstarter success story and so thankful that we can be a part of this exceptional way to reach out beyond our loyal fan base to find additional partners in you! We hope you’ll peruse the various rewards set out on this page and then help us to achieve our goals by pledging toward our project. (We ARE a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, so your contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law!)
We must receive our entire Goal amount in pledges by the time our campaign period ends or we will receive nothing! So, THANK YOU for checking out our project, for making a pledge, and ESPECIALLY for sharing this project with any of your friends or colleagues who might be interested in our mission also. You may use any of the widgets on this page that connect with social media to help promote this recording project.
Most of all, THANK YOU for helping us to fulfill our mission of recording and sharing this music with you and with the world!

Risks and challenges
We know that additional delays can and do happen when working with a project of this scope. The works on this CD are challenging and will require much focus to complete. But we love a challenge and are completely committed to seeing this project through to its completion.
We have learned a lot from the past 5 CD's we have released and have a better idea of the actual costs associated with producing and promoting the CD. We feel we have a realistic view of what it takes to complete and promote our work and feel confident in our ability to do so.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
