6-12-13 WOW!!! We have reached our Campaign Goal of $13,500.00!!
We are so thrilled with the generous outpouring of support for our New American Masters, Volume 5 project! Many thanks to all our backers who have helped us to achieve our pledge goal!
We still have some time left in our campaign and we would love to have you join us!!
Advantages of joining our Kickstarter Family include:
-Being "In the loop" with special Backer-only posts
-Receiving Backer Rewards for each pledge level
-Knowing that you are supporting PV's "Mission to Commission" and helping their public outreach for these important new American voices!
We can still use additional pledges for this project . We have recently received notice that the granting sources that we have been counting on to satisfy our full budget will be sending us about half of what we had planned on. In order to offset those cuts and match our budget we still need about $1,500.00 more than the current amount pledged.
SO - if you would like to be a part of our Backer Family, you can still join us until Saturday, June 15th at 12:30pm. Any contributions are welcome and Backer Rewards are still available for each of the pledge levels!
Please be sure to check out all the information and videos about our composers at the Updates Tab.
Once again, we are so appreciative of all of your support and we hope to see you at one of our concerts soon!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

In 2010, PALISADES VIRTUOSI successfully completed a pledge campaign right here on Kickstarter.com. With your help, New American Masters, Volume 4 was released in 2012 on the Albany Records label and met with great acclaim. We are truly thankful to all who helped us to fulfill this very important aspect of our “Mission to Commission”.
Now as we approach this next CD in our series we again turn to you, our friends, patrons and supporters, to help make this newest volume of works a reality.
WHO IS THE PALISADES VIRTUOSI??
Palisades Virtuosi was formed in 2002 by three friends who just loved to make music together. We quickly discovered that there was not much repertoire available for our instrumentation (flute, clarinet & piano) and decided that since we knew lots of composers, the best way to remedy the situation was to begin commissioning music ourselves. And so, in 2003 our “Mission to Commission” was born. We had no idea how quickly it would take off! Along with commissioning works at the rapid pace of 4 each season, we received pieces as gifts from several composers, and also received transcriptions of existing works from other composers who were enthusiastic about our commissioning projects and wanted to be a part of it. In all, our mission has involved us in the creation of over 60 new works of music for flute, clarinet & piano!
WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH?
The music you hear in the video above is not available to the general public. You can’t find it on Amazon or iTunes. These works have been commissioned and premiered but not yet recorded for distribution. A very important aspect of our mission is the preservation through recorded sound, of our library of newly commissioned works for flute, clarinet & piano. We believe by virtue of its sheer volume and the rapid pace at which it has been created, this library is unmatched by any other ensemble in recent history. We have found over the ten years of running our concert series in New Jersey, that our audiences have come to be appreciators and connoisseurs of new music through our constantly exposing them to it. We hear from them how much they look forward to having the experience of hearing new sounds instead of always the familiar repertoire of 18th & 19th century works. We want to bring this fresh new music to as many people as possible through this series of CDs on the Albany Records label. We feel in this that we are unique in our commitment not only to the creation of these new works but also to their preservation and distribution to the general public.
WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP??
The commissioning, creation and premiere performances of these works have been largely funded by public moneys through local grants. In order to fulfill the educational and outreach aspects of our mission we are committed to making sure these new works are brought to as much of the public as possible. One of the most effective ways of doing this is by making them available as recordings. There are only a handful of funding sources whose mission it is to preserve and disseminate works by new American composers and we have applied to these organizations. We may receive some assistance from them but they do not fund projects in their entirety. We are therefore turning to you, our friends, patrons and associates to assist with this important facet of our mission.
ABOUT THE MUSIC
There are seven works on this fifth disk of commissioned works, each one different in character and style. In "Palisades Amusement", Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, Paul Moravec, shares his boyhood memories of the "wild ride" on the famed "Cyclone" Roller coaster in the now-defunct Palisades Amusement Park. Raymond Wojcik weaves a story of life in the wake of devastating news in "Between Worlds". Steve Perillo takes us to Italy for a dashing romp in “Tour de Force”. Sergio Garcia-Marruz puts us in the middle of a New York Traffic jam with “Palisades Rush”. James Chwalyk pays honor to his family’s loving support of his music career in “Time Unheard”. David Sampson’s "Undercurrents Redux” evokes his memories of playing in and around the streams near Camden South Carolina and Donald Reid Womack paints a portrait of his beloved Hawaii in“‘Aina”. We'll be posting clips, audio &/or video, of each of these works throughout the course of our pledging period.
WITHOUT your support these newly created works will be heard only by a few: WITH your support they can be heard by all. We will not achieve our goals without your support.
We are thrilled to be a part of the Kickstarter success story and so thankful that we can be a part of this exceptional way to reach out beyond our loyal fan base to find additional partners in you! We hope you’ll peruse the various rewards set out on this page and then help us to achieve our goals by pledging toward our project. (We ARE a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, so your contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law!)
We must receive our entire Goal amount in pledges by the time our campaign period ends or we will receive nothing! So, THANK YOU for checking out our project, for making a pledge, and especially for sharing this project with any of your friends or colleagues who might be interested in our mission also. You may use any of the widgets on this page that connect with social media to help promote this recording project.
Most of all, THANK YOU for helping us to fulfill our mission of recording and sharing this music with you and with the world!

Risks and challenges
As with any project there can be delays. We were originally planning to move ahead on this album much earlier. However, the closure of our beloved Bennett Studios in Englewood NJ threw us for a loop. We had just wrapped Volume 4 when the announcement was made. So we have spent the last 2 years trying out various recording venues until we finally settled in on a studio in Rhinebeck, NY. We plan to begin recording there in June. So we know that additional delays can and do happen when working with a project of this scope. The works on this CD are some of the most difficult we have had yet and will require much focus to complete. But we love a challenge and are completely committed to seeing this project through to its completion.
On our previous CD kickstarter project we asked only for the amount needed to record the CD - we have learned a lot about the full costs associated with producing and promoting the CD once it is out there, so our budget this time around includes the additional costs associated with the change in recording venue AND the promotional costs that follow production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
