Page 121 Productions, New York's boldest theatre company dedicated to emerging artists, is embarking on its most ambitious season yet, and we need your support! This summer we will be staging two original plays by Artistic Director Stephen Kaliski on two different coasts. These stirring and provocative works embody Page 121's core mission of advocating for the essential, vital voices of young artists in America.
HIS MINUTE HAND, a daring and genre-bending tragedy about the decay of friendship and family in a repressive society, has recently been selected by New York producers The Green Room for participation in the first annual Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. In August, we will re-stage WEST LETHARGY, our groundbreaking hit from the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, at the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival. The play received widespread critical and audience acclaim abroad, including a four-star review in Three Weeks, a rave in the British industry standard The Stage, and an endorsement as “a wonderful work” from Academy Award winner William Hurt.
Both productions will engage actors, designers, and directors in complete, fully realized rehearsal and performance periods. Because of today's prohibitive economics, such undertakings are far too rare for unestablished talent, but we believe them to be essential. If our generation is to have an impact on the enduring tradition of theatre arts, a form that has always challenged communities to look closer at themselves, then we must be allowed the time and space to perform at our highest level. At Page 121, we give young artists this very opportunity.
Your support for our summer festival projects will fund:
1) Rehearsal space to allow for complete exploration of the plays.
2) Marketing and advertising campaigns to connect our message to Los Angeles and New York communities.
3) Performance space to communicate our plays to audiences in comfortable, intimate environments.
Thank you for your support for Page 121 Productions. Please visit www.page121productions.org to learn more about our mission, our artists, and our plays.
