No Bills is Closing! We're Celebrating at UnionDocs

Dear Supporters of No Bills,

You are invited to join the North Brooklyn Public Art Coalition (nbART) and UnionDocs for a special event to mark the conclusion of Nick Yulman’s No Bills: Stories of North Brooklyn. From July through September No Bills was installed at sites throughout Williamsburg, including the McCarren Park Pool and Triangle Court (a few blocks away from UnionDocs). Each site presented audio oral histories about North Brooklyn through listening stations situated in construction fences and on the street, and created serendipitous encounters for passersby, inviting them to engage with neighborhood’s history while standing at the sites of its developing future.  Learn more at

THANK YOU for your generosity - you helped make this project happen.

New Site Announced! And August 31st Event Details.

Dear Supporters,

nbART is pleased to announce that No Bills: Stories of North Brooklyn will be expanded this September to a new site in Williamsburg: 50 Kent Avenue. The site, currently a rarely-used lot, is the future site of a waterfront park for the Williamsburg community. We’d like to thank you, our backers, and the Open Space Alliance for supporting this expansion.

This Kickstarter Campaign only has 48 hours to left before time’s up! And we need your help in getting the word out. Please forward on this project to your friends and networks – every little bit helps us in reaching our goal of $2,000.  We want to thank you for helping us achieve that goal.

Finally, please join nbART on Wednesday, August 31st at IndieScreen for yet another announcement: the unveiling of Plan Ahead, an artwork by Magda Sayeg (aka Knitta Please). This piece, a knitted structure under the Williamsburg Bridge, will be just blocks away from the new No Bills site and we’re getting together to celebrate!

Dear Supporters,

Again, thank you so much for your support of No Bills: Stories of North Brooklyn, which was unveiled on Sunday, July 24th.

Thank you to those who came out to make the unveiling special, for your attention to the streaming stories at each sit, and for your positive feedback (ppssssttt! If you missed it, you can find some pics here.)

We're still working on expanding No Bills to additional sites, and will keep you posted once that happens. In the meantime:

- check out the Greenpoint Gazette article about the unveiling
- save the date for our upcoming fundraiser on August 31st
- visit a No Bills site anytime through September, and check out the site map

Most importantly, pat yourself on the back for being a part of this community project. Without you, we wouldn't have been able to move forward.

Thank you.

THANK YOU! and an update...

Dear Supporters,

This is just a quick note to say Thank You for backing No Bills: Stories of North Brooklyn.  You are among the first dozen "backers" of the project, and have already helped us raise 15% of our goal -- and we still have six weeks remaining of the campaign!

As we gear up for Sunday's launch, we wanted to personally invite you to join us to take a tour with artist Nick Yulman as we visit the three No Bills sites. We'd love to see you this Sunday at the McCarren Park Pool at 1:30 (a second tour will loop at 2:30); a reception will follow.

We also wanted to share a little press from last week! L Magazine featured the project, and directed folks to this Kickstarter campaign that will allow us to expand No Bills to additional sites:

Thanks to you, we're on our way.
