How far would you go to help a stranger in need? When do we and when can we put the needs of others before our own? A question we're asking ourselves a lot in today's world - but what is the right answer? This is what "Prodigals' Road" is about...
"Prodigals' Road" is written and directed by Lisa Stock. - The screenplay was accepted into numerous festivals in 2017, which placed it as Semi-Finalist, Finalist, and was the Winner of the Sunday Shorts Fest in London. This mythic film tells its tale through compelling characters and sweeping visuals, and explores the difference between having compassion and acting upon it. The story is magical, intense, and ultimately hopeful!
Set on a farm in 1960, a man is tricked into sheltering an injured woman whose misfortune begins to spread to his land. His crops begin to die, the roof and chimney of his house begin to crumble and he comes to believe he's somehow being punished for helping. As he gets set to evict her, two mysterious seamstresses (with ties to life and death) arrive to show him the magical connection between his land and the woman. From there he must decide whether to risk his farm and everything he has to save another.
Our plan is to raise $5,000 to shoot the film in April. From there it will be submitted into international film festivals, and will premiere in NYC in June 2018. "Prodigals' Road" is part of a larger project, and will also serve as a calling card to secure resources for what's beyond the short. (Those supporting the film will learn all about the larger project too!)

Risks and challenges
There are inherent risks to each project. My philosophy as a director and producer are to come to the set as prepared as possible. When you have all your i's dotted and t's crossed you are ready for when any blips come up. We are fully filming outdoors, if there is inclement or dangerous weather - we will move our shoot dates, but our ultimate goal is to film in April and have the film ready to show all backers in June!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
