I have set up another fundraiser at http://www.theimpossiblegirl.com which can process worldwide payments. Kickstarter, and Amazon payments cannot process your pledge unless you have visa or mastercard.
Please visit http://www.theimpossiblegirl.com to find out more about the project, to pre-order, and to get exclusive access to updates, videos, and songs about the process.
In January 2010 I will record my first solo album. This will be exactly four years after recording the first album I ever worked on with my band Vermillion Lies. I've come so far and learned so much in that time and I'm ready to make a record of uncompromising beauty, clarity, and life.
The music that is flowing out of me now is giving me goosebumps and I want it to be heard the way I hear it, that means recording it right in a great studio with great people. I'm inviting you along for the ride. Because we're all in the art together.
I will be working with the amazing producer, Sean Slade (Radio Head, Dresden Dolls, and more) as well as some fine recording engineers and musicians on the East and West coasts of America.
Pre-orders of all sizes are availablel! For $5 you will get an album download code. For $20 you will get a download code and a copy of the signed CD.
The more people who pre-order the better it is for me. One person pledging the entire $20,000 would be great, but 1000 people pledging $20 each would help me even more because this proves to potential agents that I have an audience. So spread the word and get others to pre-order their own copy of my album.
This is a new era for art making. We like it!
During the fundraiser I will be writing blogs and doing webcasts every week: song writing sessions, recording, story time, dance parties, and more. All of these things will be kept track of and posted here on Kickstarter.
During the recording I will be doing webcasts and videos from the studio, as well as writing blogs about the process.
Recording is an intense time of creation and gestation, an inordinate amount of passion, excitement and energy goes into the process.
Here is how the time line will go:
Sept-Nov 2009: Song writing and development in Berlin.
December 2009: Rehearsing with band in San Francisco - along with a residency at the Climate theater three Tuesdays in December 12/8, 12/15, 12/22 ticket link: Climate Theater Events
January 2010: Recording with Sean Slade, a wonderful producer who has worked with a ton of amazing people such as Radiohead, and The Dresden Dolls.
Release date TBA. I'll be working hard to get the album out into the world as soon as possible!!!
Everyone who pledges to the project will get a chance to win the Berlin Ukulele:
"The Berlin Ukulele" signed by Kim Boekbinder, Amanda Fucking Palmer, and Neil Gaiman - Neil signed his name and wrote "Dream dangerously" across the front. This is the Ukulele Kim will be playing at all her Berlin shows and the one she will use on the album. You will get the Ukulele in February - after recording. It is a lovely instrument. See it here: http://kimboekbinder.com/ukulele.html
