Confidential is a feature length film directed by Emmy-Award winning filmmaker Katherine Brooks. The provocative film explores the complex relationship between a Psychiatrist and her Patient.
Evan is a talented young actress who suffers from major depression and anxiety. After a failed suicide attempt, Evan reaches out to a gifted young Psychiatrist.
Katherine is a dedicated Doctor, but is emotionally shut down. She lives her life inside of a box that she has placed herself in.
A connection forms between the two women that challenges everything each of them stands for. The biggest question being: what is each woman willing to sacrifice for love.
We are creating a truly Independent film down south here in New Orleans. Now, I have been blessed to Produce and Direct budgets in the millions. But, to tell you the truth…it costs hardly anything to make a good movie. Factor in Hollywood salaries and there you go. I need a break from the Hollywood machine. I need to create a truly Independent film where everyone is there to create art and it's not about money or fame.
$100,000 will get us a rough cut. I am hoping we are able to rise above the $100,000 goal so that we may completely finish the picture and not have to do another campaign. (Raising money is about the most exhausting thing you can do - as most of you know) So, by making your pledge you will be helping support TRULY Independent film.
If the Kickstarter has ended and you would like to find out more about this project and get involved, please visit my production company Big Easy Pictures and get in touch!
Emmy-Award Winning filmmaker, Katherine Brooks grew up in a small Louisiana town just outside of New Orleans. Being an only child and surrounded by nature, Katherine began her love of photography and capturing beauty on film.
Katherine left home at 16 and traveled to Los Angeles with a dream of making movies. With only a handful of cash, Katherine found herself living in her car for the first three months.
By the age of 18, Katherine was on set directing for producer, John Manulis (The Basketball Diaries, Swing Kids). From there, Katherine ventured over to television and produced and directed some of television's hottest shows for ABC, NBC, CBS, Bravo, MTV and other various networks. Her extensive list of television credits include three seasons of the Emmy-Award Winning show, The Osbournes and the ground-breaking, The Real World. After a decade in television, Katherine returned to film and directed the highly acclaimed feature film Loving Annabelle, which remains one of the highest grossing LGBT films of all time. Katherine followed that with the feature film, Waking Madison, which starred Academy-Nominated Actress Elisabeth Shue and Golden Globe Winner Frances Conroy.
In 2011, Katherine made her first documentary feature Face 2 Face, which made its premier at the prestigious Mann's Chinese Theater. The film explores social media and it’s profound effect on our organic connections to one another. Here is Katherine on THE INSIDER speaking about the film.
After completing Face 2 Face, Katherine returned to New Orleans (currently the leading city for productions) and started her own company, Big Easy Pictures.
Aside from making movies, Katherine is a lover of nature and animals. She also enjoys traveling the world and experiencing different cultures. She has a passion for architecture, glass blowing and discovering the simplistic beauty life has to offer.
Katherine also remains focused on equality and gender discrimination and continues to do her part in the fight for equal human rights. #LGBTQ
Without your support I can't make this movie. Every $ pledged will go into making this film and I thank you so much for supporting Confidential!
