About this project
A Quick Plug:
First, we would like the thank Robin Roemer for her generous permission to reproduce one of her images from the Autostraddle Miss April Calendar Girl shoot. She's amazing and it was really nice of her. Please check out her work.
Web Series? Huh?
Web series have been rising in popularity for over a decade. They started with short videos sent by e-mail; but YouTube changed everything. And now we want to help change it again. With embeddable widgets, handheld media devices (like your phone!), and new media platforms emerging every week it's becoming easier and cheaper to produce high quality entertainment without the support/weight/restriction of a major production company.
Fun fact: South Park is based on a web distributed video from the days of yore.
Web series are just like episodic TV shows; but they're short and most of the time they're free. They're intended to be distilled down to their essence and watched on-the-go.
What do you get when you mix two life-long friends, hand cuffs, beer, and Brooklyn?
Skip Trace is a law drama with a twist: two female bounty hunters, Scrap and Seeker, live and work in Brooklyn; trying to fix more trouble than they create without getting shot, beat up, or broken up with. It stars Darlene McCullough as Seeker and Sarah Croce as Scrap; two real life-long friends and collaborators.
Each episode features new bad guys, good looking women, chases, fight scenes, and the editing and cinematography of Elana Mugdan.
Season 1 was written and developed this winter in preparation for production in the summer of 2010. The plot is structured for two additional seasons; three total.
The backdrop for Skip Trace is the borough of Brooklyn, NYC. Brooklyn is a mix of up-and-coming trendy neighborhoods and life-long working class residents. We aim to capture the flavor of Brooklyn's unique energy throughout the series.
This Kickstarter campaign is the first in a three phase approach:
With the $1,500 from this campaign Sarah, Elana, and Darlene will produce two episodes as a pilot to show what we can do! These two episodes set up the rest of the series and will help the series gain some momentum.
The pilot episodes in our back pockets, we'll come back to Kickstarter to pull together the funds for the rest of Season 1. Any extra funds from the pilot will roll into Phase 2.
We mentioned before there were two more seasons 'in the works'. Season 1 leaves itself open for further development. Our two heroines make some new friends, some new enemies, and a bit of trouble for themselves. (There might even be a love triangle or two coming up). It can only happen if we can get it all off the ground.
We Want a Streamy!
In March 2009 The International Academy of Web Television presented the first awards for web episodics: The Streamys. This year's coverage and attendance had more than twice the media and viewer coverage of last year; and they expect even more recognition next year.
We're not shy! We fully admit that our goal is to be nominated for Best New Series and Best Drama. Help us take Skip Trace to that level.
You give something, you get something! Some more details about our reward packages:
We believe in sayin' 'Thanks'. Every contribution over $10 will be rewarded with a hand-written, heart-felt "Thank you!" from all three producers.Sober.

We at Geek Goddess/Shivnath heartily believe that there can be value in endulgance. For $12 we'll 'tie one on' before writing one down. Every reward package above $12 has the option of their 'Thank you' note being crafted while we're drinking like fishes.

If you're a fan of Sarah Croce, you've probably seen her spread on Autostraddle (If not, do yourself a favor and close the door before clicking).
The gifted Robin Roemer gave us all a present, capturing Sarah's energy with her lens. She was also gracious enough to allow GG/Shivnath to run a Limited Edition print from Sarah's shoot. There will only be 20 copies printed; signed by Sarah's "gentle" hand, just for you.
Bad @$$ Blood Stains
So you want to feel a bit bad@$$ like the ladies of Skip Trace? What about walking around with a blood stained shirt? That would certainly let folks know you are not to be trifled with.
With your $100 contribution the ladies of Skip Trace will hand-craft a Skip Trace t-shirt with it's own, unique 'blood' stains. Of course, if we told you whose blood it is, we'd have to kill you.
(No actresses will be harmed in the making of your t-shirt)
Poster?! I hardly know 'er.
Wish you could gaze up at your wall at night and drift off to sleep knowing that the bounty hunters of Skip Trace were watching over you in your slumber?
Now you can! Elana Mugdan is designing a poster only availible via this Kickstarter campaign. Signed by the production team, it will be yours to treasure and do with as you will.
