Dejamone Dezynz: Bringing Production Back Home!
Hello Kickstarter Supporters,
Thank you so much for checking out my project. Have you ever been dared into doing something, and unknowingly altered the path you were on? Often times we have aspirations to do many great things, but lack the support and motivation to get the gears in motion.
I am Will Chandler, some call me the True Fashion Culprit, and I am the designer behind the Dejamone brand. Dejamone Dezynz is a start-up clothing line manufacturing company based out of Saint Paul, MN that's currently in it's start-up stage. Dejamone Dezynz plans are to bring production back to America and produce all garments domestically, which can ultimately lead to job creation. You are cordially invited to witness clothing with creative punch and flare come together before your eyes. I want to bring together the style and techniques of Couture Fashion with Streetwear Elements designed to provoke positive emotions.
This magical display of creativity is my Victory Collection in the making. Dejamone has been invited to showcase the Victory Collection in Baltimore Fashion Week in August of this year and has received an invite to Brooklyn, Boston and Phoenix Fashion Week. Dejamone Dezynz needs your support in helping us launch this Spring 2013 Collection. Your support will keep the momentum going after Baltimore Fashion Week. These events will showcase other designers from others regions and shed much spotlight on Dejamone Dezynz as well.
Your Pledges will help with the following:
Produce the actual collection pieces
Accessories artists will create for the show
The Show expenses, amongst them:
Hair and Make up
PR and video
Trade show Participation
Hows does KICKSTARTER works:

little bit about me: I
have been involved with fashion design for 9 years now, but my
overall love for fashion has always been a part of me. I got involved
with fashion design due to a dare, in which I thought was ridiculous
at the time. However, this dare evolved into a challenge that put me
on a path that has no end in sight. The name Dejamone comes from my
daughter’s first and middle name. My daughter is close to 11 years
old now, and she is a special little girl, who means the world to
I had no idea I would be designing clothes, but this is the power of will that guides my efforts. To this day, I have single-handedly won the hearts of many with my creativity, whether it was in the Midwest region, or Southwest, now I intend on making my presence known on the east coast. I am a one-man team, and this includes, concept development, garment construction, fitting analysis, pattern development, and more.
It’s been truly a challenge getting this far without help from others whether it was financial or moral support, but as I stated many of times believing in yourself resonates with others. Every garment created bares the creative craftsmanship and that special quality that a parent exerts to a loving child. I have a dedicated studio in my home in Saint Paul, MN, and this is where the magic begins. Here, I create pieces that inspire awe, with positive effects.
the collection: This
Spring 2013 collection will be the first collection since Dejamone redefined and developed its new image during Phoenix Fashion Week in 2011. This Collection is Victory for many reasons. The first reason is the
will to live that stems from my daughter. She was born with
developmental issues that kept her in and out the hospital for most
of her life. She was born premature, and entered this world 4 months
before her due date. The second reason I decided to go with Victory
is, I have had my share of hardships as well, but I never gave up.
For this reason “Victory is mine!” The third reason is, without
true struggle there is definitely no gain.
Aside from making eye-catching clothing for men and women, I also want to bring back something we all miss and hope that it returns and that is production back on American soil. I want to create jobs through the success and growth of my business. I want to instill hopes of job security again. I also want to help those that enjoy fashion by educating them on the processes of fashion design and manufacturing. Lastly, I want people to be aware of small businesses such as myself, and lend a supporting hand, which in turn makes job creation possible, job security a reality again, ultimately reducing the unemployment rate that is currently at 8.1%.
is more than a brand, but a way of life. Fashion will never be the
same, and change is a part of evolution. From this idea and way of
life, Dejamone rose from the flames like the Phoenix, to soar and
maintain its will to overcome obstacles and spread its influence
throughout the industry.
Dejamone embodies Couture Techniques and Streetwear elements and Graphic design principles to create the ultimate clothing experience. “This is truly not cha ordinary Dezynz!“ The future is near and a demand for unique and creative apparel is rising. Dejamone has heard the call for this creative movement, so I bring you Creative, Craftsmanship at it’s finest.
Producing in America isn't going to be an easy task. We need to generate funding in order to purchase fabric, trims, PR, travel, participation fees, and more. There are a lot of expenses to cover, but I know it can be done. I am draping, developing patterns and sewing each piece myself, so I will make sure each garment is made with supreme tailoring standards. Please "sponsor" a garment, and you will be able to keep that garment after the presentation! Also, I will name the garment after your initials. There will also be a mentioning of your sponsorship in the program. You will forever be a part of this Victory Collection at either Fashion Week I participate in!
What we want to do: We want to launch this Victory Collection during our debut in Baltimore fashion Week in August just to keep the momentum going. This first collection includes dresses, blouses, jeans, jackets, but this exposure will be use to generate a buzz, for a possible debut in Brooklyn Fashion Week March of 2013 or Boston Fashion Week in Sept 2013.
How we plan to do it: I have set out to create 30 plus garments, and during the process of production, I will take pictures and videos so that my supporters can see every step. Each garment is made from a concept design, and refined along the way. All garments are made within 72hrs to 96hrs. It's all about fit, and that's the goal behind Dejamone Dezynz, create a unique fit using elements of design. Once the sample garments are created, models, photographers, stylist, bloggers will be contacted, so that we may put together a photo shoot and use the images for marketing purposes.
What the money is for:
Sample Cost: $6,000.00
Cut & Sew: $12,400.00
Pattern Development: $18,900
Fashion Week Participation Fee: $3,000.00
Fashion Week Booth: $700.00
Trade Show Banner: $500.00
Travel to and from in preparation for the show: $2,500.00(Three Times)

Well at the moment, I create all of my garments from my house, but I am having talks with manufacturers in the U.S. so that my designs paved the way for someone on American soil to have a job.
Not at all. There just prototypes. They are used for fashion shows, photoshoots, and marketing purposes. If the color or fabric choice has a high demand, I will make sure that that color and fabric stays in the mix. The only thing I would like for people to really browse is the silhouette. The designs can be produced in any fabric.
Well right now, I use two sizes to create my prototypes, and they are 36, 27, 36 and 38, 29, 38. This doesn't mean that other sizes are not available.
Good question! Well, I haven't decided on the graphics yet, but I can tell you this much, it will be an exciting graphic on the very front of the shirt. Even though I prefer designing more detailed clothing, I do have a background in graphic and web design, so creating fun is what I am good at, you'll see. Thanks for asking!
I was doing clothing design for men and women, but I wasn't getting as much support as I needed to continue designing for men. So now, I only design clothing for women, but maybe in the future, I will start designing for men, and add children as well.
Well, that's a tough question! I really would like to be at both of them, but I guess if I were to choose, it would be Boston 1st, and Brooklyn 2nd. I feel Boston is a place where they embrace fresh designs and new fashion faces.
That is very much possible, but keep in mind, there's a lot that goes into designing, and the most timing consuming part is building the first pattern. Three or more patterns must be complete before the actual construction can begin. Message me for more information regarding this matter.
Absolutely! I will do a custom design for anyone, any day, but keep in mind, it takes a lot of time to build a garment and make sure it fits. So the cost is not the same as retail.
That would be a yes. I do offer my services to others, but I mainly what to be known as a fashion designer many capabilities. If you want to know more, please message me regarding this.
Well, I intend on using either Fedex, Ups or USPS. These are safer and faster.
Yes, but there is an additional fee that must be added which in some cases can be as much as $100.00 depending on where you are in the world.
