About this project
HELP US PRESERVE JACK HERER'S LEGACY!
Kickstart the Jack Herer Museum & Hemporium!
100% of the proceeds from Jack Herer's Emperor Wears No Clothes documentary & Hemp Can Save The Planet social action campaign go towards Jack Herer's movie, movement & mission.
Jack Herer's The Emperor Wears No Clothes is a short documentary film co-directed by author, Jack Herer and filmmaker, Melissa Balin. The film features celebrities and activists reading excerpts from the eponymous best-selling Hemp book, integrating archival footage, periodicals, and the government propaganda film, Hemp For Victory, to create an educational look into the Truth about Hemp, its history, and its many uses. A trailer for the short doc is viewable here:
The film first premiered in August 2009 at the Laemmle Theatres in Los Angeles for Academy Award consideration, and has since had special screenings and premieres at The High Times' Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, The Cultiva Fair in Vienna, Spannabis in Barcelona, the Hanf Museum during the 60th Berlinale in Berlin, and the upcoming Treating Yourself EXPO in Toronto, Canada (July 16-18).
We are currently in the process of filming the feature length version of the book (already starring Jack Herer, Eddy Lepp, B-Real, Pauley Perrette, Ralphie May, Scott Levy, NJWeedman.com, Zack Ward, Los Marijuanos, Money Mark, and Native Wayne). In light of the unfortunate death of co-director and globally recognized Civil Rights Activist, Jack Herer, we are seeking support of our Kickstarter.com campaign from the global community to be able to continue Jack Herer's message about the Truth concerning Cannabis/Hemp/Marijuana, its history, and its many uses. Hemp Can Save The Planet is a member run video blog that follows the global tour of Jack Herer's message.
Our Kickstarter pledge campaign will continue the message of Hemp History Week (May 17-May 23, 2010), by beginning on the date our forefathers signed the draft of the Declaration of Independence on Hemp Paper (July 2) and ending on September 14, 2010 at 11:59 PM (PST) - incidentally, the date Napoleon set ablaze the infamous fires of Moscow during the War of 1812, fought over Hemp.
The $1420 of funds raised for Phase 1 will go towards continuing the member funded Hemp Can Save The Planet social action campaign (http://HempCanSaveThePlanet.blogspot.com) as well as the administrative costs of establishing the Jack Herer Charitable Trust (structured similarly to the Nobel Charitable Trust), which will serve as the legal owner and functional administrator of the funds generated from Jack Herer’s Emperor Wears No Clothes documentary and ancillary products (with 100% of proceeds going into the Trust), and will serve as the joint administrative body of the Jack Herer Museum & Hemporium.
Phase 2 funds of $22k raised will go towards the next days of principal photography of the feature length documentary, which is currently scheduled to be released on Jack Herer Day, 4/20/2011, so please help us exceed our goal.
Your support is greatly appreciated. More information about Jack Herer, his movement & mission, can be found at http://www.JackHerer.com
