Our plan is to hike the John Muir Trail this summer 2010 and spend about 30 days to cover the 220 miles. There is a lot of planning that has to go into a trip like this and it is also unfortunately expensive. Three of us are Boy Scouts from Santa Barbara's Troop 26 and two of us are Eagle Scouts, and we are all currently in college, three of us in UC's. We have experience in the woods but none of us have ever been out there for more than two weeks. For a trip like this to be possible we need to be well prepared and having our food planned out and ordered is a huge part of it. With this we are asking your help. Freeze-dried food is not cheap but along with the price of the food alone we will have to pay to have it shipped out to food caches that we will be able to pick up during our hike. This is because it is not possible to carry 30 days of food for four people with you. We are hoping here that we can cover most of the cost of our food so that we have a better chance of making this trip a reality. Thank you for your time and consideration and know that anything you can donate will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for reading this and please help us out if you can!
