About this project
*** Please note that ALL pledges $35 and higher will receive a From Fat to Finish Line T Shirt. ***
In January 2013 twelve formerly obese people will do what they once thought impossible and run a 200 mile relay race from Miami to Key West.
From Fat To Finish Line will document the journey of 12 strangers who share the common bond of losing 100 pounds on average through lifestyle changes of diet and exercise and who will now embark on one of the biggest challenges of their lives: The 200 mile, mega distance, Ragnar Relay Race.
As recently as last year, these racers were staring down heart disease, diabetes and other weight-related illnesses. Many couldn’t even climb a flight of stairs without getting winded, never mind run. Now they will be performing as elite runners. They’ve each arrived at this point through individual journeys. Ada Wong lost her weight in front of millions as a season 10 contestant on The Biggest Loser, Jen Small went from being a 250 pound chain-smoker to a sponsored triathlete and Katie Foster’s journey is the subject of her successful health blog, her story even being featured on Dr. Oz.
We’ll meet each racer prior to the race and hear of their ups, downs and challenges in training and in life. We’ll hear about how these ordinary Americans did the extraordinary in conquering their demons, persevering and shedding incredible amounts of weight, all through diet and exercise.
With members spread across the country, we’ll see the team bond through email, calls and social networking. Intense friendships will take shape as they share their training, struggles and sometimes their deepest secrets and feelings.
We’ll be there when they come together, face to face, for the first time in Miami and be there for every mile of the 200 mile race. During the two-day race they’ll run in the hot sun, face challenges like running at 2:00 am through the alligator infested Everglades and then finally and triumphantly cross the finish line, together as a team. These once strangers will now be bonded for life through their awe-inspiring race experience.
Ultimately, From Fat To Finish Line will inspire, motivate, and show audiences that it’s never too late to take control of your health, set big goals and attain “impossible” dreams.

Help us bring this amazing story to light. Funds raised here help cover team race expenses and the film crew's travel to runner's home towns for background stories. Any funds over minimum raised will go towards additional crew members at the race in January 2013 in Florida.
